    a fiance visa is "settlement-marriage"

    for those already married--its "settlement-spouse".

Yes Mac - I made this clear in my post!

    We are still waiting for Kris ( @inaroiles ) + son's settlement (m) visa.

We applied for settlement visa for my wifes daughter 3 days after you also with a travel date of June 1 ....I know they started processing it on April 18 ...I am curious as to how long the actual process takes...

Can you elaborate on that please @Brom27 - if it's a settlement visa (as I assume it would be in my case as we're in the Philippines) I have more than 30 days in which to sort out the flight?

For some reason I thought they'd changed it from 90 days to 30 days... ?

What settlement visa are you applying? @Scotschap16 is applying for a marriage settlement visa (commonly called as fiance visa) which is valid for 6 months so the visa holder can go to the UK anytime as he/she pleases.

On the other hand if you applied as a spouse of someone settled in the UK (spouse visa as we call it) the vignette on the passport will only be valid for 30 days that's why you need to travel within that time. And once you arrive in the UK you have 10 days to collect your BRP.

Is this the explanation you need?

98% of settlement visas processed within 60 (working) days. 100% within 90 days.

Interestingly - and regrettably - the UKVI have added the 90 day category in past couple of months.

I suppose it's only 2% that have slipped into this new, longer, slot - but not much fun if your application is one of them.

Thanks - Yes I got it now. I was replying to the op thinking it was @Scotschap16 but he's just jumped in half way down - anyway I understand now - he's applying for a fiance visa which is 6 months.

    However...

Having now read his (@Scotschap16) post again I notice that he's applying for a "settlement" visa for the son... so perhaps you could clarify whether the son will also get a 6 month window or whether he'll only get 30 days?

The child will be the same with the mother. 6 months as well. And they will also apply together again for the FLR within the UK.

Yeah surprising it's taking 90 days now for some. No wonder the decision is taking much longer this time. Hope you hear from them soon Gerry. :)

Thanks - the waiting is a nightmare! Part of me wishes I'd just paid the extra for premium service - but then I look at my bank balance and think I did the right thing!

it will be interesting when my wifes son applies for his settlement visa. she now has her first flr--another 18 months to run on that. i wonder how long the UKVI will give the boy for his visa .

either--6 months--then we ( She ! ) will need to pay for a first flr for him
    or---30 months
or....18 months to coincide with her next flr.

either way--its a warning to anyone else planning to bring a partner with kids over on a fiancee visa--gonna cost you a lot more than the spouse visa would!

Our circumstances are different @bigmac as Kris's son is coming over at the same time. The cost is therefore effectively doubled... settlement visas / FLR / NHS surcharge etc etc.

I think we all accept the fees are confiscatory but what option do we have? As someone on here said a while back the UK general public are hardly likely to support modest / reasonable (define!) charges for immigrants.

yep--we are being penalised--as in 25% increase in visa fees this year.

i liken it to those women caught in the state pension trap--some have lost several years state pension....but again its a small minority. the rest of the UK population just doesnt give a toss if they are not directly affected. i'm alright jack.

Only 6 individuals - out of 74 responses - were submitted in response to the Government's consultation on the subject.

Does anyone know of anyone else who's appointment was around the 7th April? Has there been any issues and delays. I would have thought that as a Priority Application they would have made contact if there was an issue? Application dropped off 1 Month yesterday :(

Sorry I can't help on this one (my fiancé attended VFS on 9 March (standard service) and were still waiting.

You mention that 1 month has lapsed since your priority application - but that is only 20 working days. That said as you've paid top dollar I would have expected a decision before now. They must be really busy.

    Good luck!

Hi @Matt P we are on the same boat. Applied 4th April, paid for priority, and still haven't heard from them. I think last month was the worst time to apply - there were holidays and a new process was introduced. There are also rumours that settlement visa applications are getting delayed because of Brexit or Theresa May. And have you heard of that visa-related ruling (was it?) last February? Applicants were warned that there would be a delay on applications where children are involved.

But ultimately, I think it's this stupid new process. The Filipino applicants here who got their applications processed within 10 days had theirs processed right here in Manila. Someone else from SEA sent their application to Manila after us and they got a decision within 5 or 10 days. Ours are being processed in Sheffield, where I assume there's a significant backlog. We called the UKVI call centre for updates and we were told that priority applications in Sheffield can take up to 1.5 months. But on another call we were told that it was surprising that our application was taking this long. Yes, they can't even get that basic info right. This whole experience has been a nightmare. It's been ridiculously stressful.

But anyway, if you still haven't heard from them today, you can:
    - Send them an email to ask about the status of your application: https://ukvi-international.faq-help.com/
    - Call and ask them to 'escalate' your case
    - Get your MP to help chase this for you

You're not alone! We're in this together!

Stressful, Nervous , Anxious a whole range of emotions ...I was hoping that a march application would of allowed us to have the little one here for the july/ august holidays as each day passes its looking less unlikely.

    Hi Numpters

Yes...well...why am i not surprised by anything this government does...especially when the leader of our country is the wicked witch of the north....:frust:
We still have not heard anything...22 working days now...would the local MP really bother with this??
Its a hard one to judge...its all very well asking for the application to be escalated but at the same time i dont want to rattle their cage too much if you get my meaning.
Its a pitty they cannot impliment a tracking facility where you could log on to follow progress...at least that way you would know if your case was even being looked at.
The word patience is ringing in my ears but it doesnt make the anxious wait any easier.
Has anyone had any joy with a local MP making enquiries before??
