Been getting a lot of phone calls from a Manc number trying to get me to claim PPI. Although I never answered the calls, I googled the number, and these people have a history of calling random numbers to sell their PPI and injury claims service. My mobile is on the TPS, but it seems they are ignoring this, which is kind of naughty when they should be bound by it. Anyway, after 5 missed calls from them in 48 hours, I used my HTC android phone to block the number, and no more calls ever since :like:. Only problem is if they change numbers... I've also had text messages from them, tried blocking that, but the text message number changes every time.

Oh the irony of targeted advertising...an hour after posting this, I can see ads for i-Phone and an accident & injury helpline on this very page :erm:

One reason I browse incognito - just close an re-open browser and all the targeted-at-me advertising disappears and when I log into this forum I am always greeted by adverts offering me an Asian bride. As I am already accounted for, I just ignore the ads.

Ain't nothing one can do about it, similar to the 'paper Post flood" in your letterbox in the old days. Once one has a Phone account with person details, he will be targetted.
Prepaid is a solution sometimes. Anonymous Custoemr are not on the general target list, as the advertiser has to pay for each adress he mails to.

Hail to the Philippines, aside from "updates" of the service provider, one never gets any "spam" messages on his phone.

I doubt that contacting the Service provider in th UK would help, as they get paid for Ad's through their network.

On the regular Internet ( PC ) one can install multiple browser "add ons" such as "Adblock Plus" which filter most. Not the ones which are paying to be on the choosen Website though, but the Forum owners need some money too, right ?

I am using Linux ubuntu 11.10 with a mozilla browser, that also helps a lot in automatic filtering and safety from any hackers, as most advertising and spam applications are written for Windows.

Doesn't help being stalked though ( lol ), but thats the price for fame, Internet stalkers...(Frustated little psychopaths with no life at all :D, pityful little critters )
