Sorry, I posted it and it should have read "Holger Czukay - Persian Love Song"

Holger was the bass player from one of my favourite German bands - Can.

I still play Can's "Tago Mago" IMO they were way ahead of so many bands back then, and their tracks still give me a thrill these days.
This track featured here is a very melodic tune.

Is this the guy who made an album with Jah Wobble and The Edge? I used to have that album on cassette years ago if it is. Great album. Snake Charmer I think it was called.

    Hi Maharg,
    Yes, you are right.
Holger also did a couple of great ambient CD's with David Sylvian (ex-Japan).

    Holger is very talented :like:

Diversity is the spice of life.
To be honest, that music is not my 'cup of tea'. But I can understand the emotions you can get from music.

Probably this is not to your tastes, but all Japanese Enka gives me the same feelings that I'm thinking you experience.

I like a lot of Japanese music. Not a great fan of Enka particularly, but there's a lot of interesting stuff there. If you like Japanese music, Chihiro Onitsuka would have to be my favourite artist from there. I've got all her albums and she does a lot of varied and interesting stuff and has an amazing voice.

I think our musical tastes are different Micawber, but variety is the spice of life :D

I like rock, ambient, jazz and blues music but dislike pop.

Tetsu Inoue from Japan is a favourite ambient artist of mine:

Were you ever a fan of Tangerine Dream Mike?

I saw them live at the Glasgow City Halls in 1975 on the Rubycon tour at least I'm pretty sure it was 1975 :) getting old :)

They were well well ahead of their time.

I must admit I don't get quite so much from that particular Persian Love Song but there is a good bit of middle eastern music and influences that I do like.

I also like both Peter's Japanese piece and your one too, it was yours that put me in mind of the Tangs :)

There is one particular Scottish lad's music that I really fell in love with a few years back it is a fusion of Celtic, Middle Eastern, Scandinavian and several other influences his name is Martyn Bennett, sadly he died very young a few years back but not before coming out with some great albums in particular Bothy Culture which is heavily influenced by Islamic culture, if you get the chance try to listen to "Ud the Duduk" and you will see what I mean, really weird crossover between Gaelic and middle eastern sounds.

I can't find any full examples of "Ud the Duduk" but there is a 30 second sample on the link I posted above.

The man was a piper, a violinist, a keyboard player a composer and much more, he passed away aged 24 in 2005.

A great loss to Scotland and to music.
