    Just wanted to say hi,
I joined a few weeks ago but never posted here as I have been running around like a headless chicken trying to get all the necessary paperwork to produce at the consulate in Cebu to exchange my UK CNI for a local CENOMAR. It was made harder as my fiancé has been married before so also needed to take copies and originals of all annulment papers including court decision papers, birth certificate and her CENOMAR. to be honest I was a little worried about all this even after reading a lot of information on this site and the other. The reason for my worry was that the papers my fiancé produced from the NSO and the court just didn’t look like originals to me, but all was well as we waited around the pool at Ms Moya Jackson’s house. The whole process took about 1 hr and we left with my local CENOMAR. No need to go back the next day as in Manila.
We have now applied for a marriage licence and need to wait the required 10 days. We will be Married on Dec 22. After the worry of my fiancé’s Annulment and now the wedding I will have a short time relaxing before worrying again about settlement visas for her and her son.:drama:

Nice story, good to hear that everything is working out for you regarding your paperwork, I am very familiar with some aspects of the Phils legal system having spent many years chasing various bits of paper :D

First of all, a very warm welcome aboard.:like:

Secondly, you will realize, soon enough, that the time spent with all what appeared to be impossible hassle, and insurmountable obstacles, will have been well worth the effort.:like:
As married life starts to make its mark, you will be left wondering why all the worries to get to that....:erm:

We would like to take this opportunity, to wish you both, all the best in a happy and prosperous life together.:like:

    Dom,

What you say is so true. After all we have been through already, I mean with the annulment process hassle. I’m already thinking applying for visas will be a piece of cake and in a strange kind of way looking forward to starting the process. I’m sure I will still need help from members here which gives me great comfort to know that so many people have already been through, what seems to be an impossible process.

    Kuyu,

Good luck to for your application, just a thought that might help you or other members thinking of exchanging your CNI in Cebu, is to contact Ms Jackson well in advance for an appointment. I did this first by email and was given a date and time but asked to contact her again nearer the time as she is not always in Cebu. Also while I was there she took a call and told someone she would not be able to see him for nearly 2 months, It’s probably cause it’s close to Christmas. When she was off the phone she said that she only made appointment for the mornings.

    TheTeach,

Thanks for the offer of help and to meet up, but at the moment I’m now in Ozamis preparing for the wedding. When we were there we stayed close to Ayala mall. After Christmas we think we will be there again, so maybe we could meet? I could do with a little help to find a nice area to stay there, any suggestions?
The last times we were there we visited Bohol and Panglao but never really seen much of Cebu.

    Hi KiethAngel,
First congratulations to you and your intended, I was with Moya on the 1st Dec and the charge to me was 6.666 peso easy to remember. Strange as the exchange rate hasn't changed that much. We will be back in Cebu just after Christmas, and probably stay there until my flight home on the 24th Jan. At the moment we are renting a simple room but have stayed in some moderately expensive hotels also. So I guess I'm open to any ideas from hotels to a room or a house to rent short term.

If you dont mind getting out of the city I can recomend a self catering 1 bed apartment in Balamban the sailors cabin fully equiped air con living room kitchen cable tv etc for 600 per day plus power at 10 piso a klwt for a month they charge 23 days they have two stoy 2 beds for 900 i think 3 beds for 1050

This may be the best value in the Phils short term its 90 mins fron city link nr south bus on a v hire (100 piso) to Balamban via Naga and Toledo

There is free wi fi at the reception not much to do but that may not matter if you are newly married lol Its about a mile from mine dont know about availability try there land line if your interested

There is A largish Guisano Mall at Toledo and a couple of ex pat bars/eateries and one in Balamban to :like:

Both places look good and reasonably priced, Metro Park for when we are in the city. But the Saliors cabin is our favourite but both look great.
