I am as you all know intending to go the EEA route to Portugal however we have run into a bit of a blockage

Having googled the Portuguess Embassy in Manila I contacted the email address given twice with no responce

On further exploration I discovered it had shut in 07 and now all visas origionate in Indonesia hmm ok so I emailed the contact address again twice called the number many times also with no responce or reply

I then emailed the Consular Generals office in London and guess what no responce

Could some kind soul ring them in london and ask for upto date contact info for a Filipino Spouse applying for a EEA family permit?

Any on line info you can find might be helpful as well as if your is diferent to mine I will try again

Im down to my last Month here and would really like to have the forms filled know exactly what they want document wise befor leaving having just seen they may
require Apostille Verification on our Marriage Certificate from the N.S.O.

Keith, I'm sure I read somewhere that European Embassies in Manila will process visas for other countries as long as they are Schengen area. Now, I can't find that information anywhere, maybe it was just plans at the time?

From link below: "if you are a citizen of the Republic of the PHILIPPINES or legally residing in the Philipines and wish to apply for a visa to Portugal (short or temporary stay), you have to address your request to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Portugal in Jakarta (porembjak@cbn.net.id), since the effective closure of the Embassy of Portugal in Manila (June 2007)."

http://www.embassyportugaljakarta.or.id/v2/?p=215&lang=en and then it links to forms to here: http://www.secomunidades.pt/vistos/...content&view=article&id=103&Itemid=14&lang=pt but it seems the processing has to be done in Jakarta.

I'm surprised Portugal have no diplomatic presence in Philippines, even the tiny island of Malta have an Embassy and a Consulate in Manila.

Sorry I can't add much more than that.

Thanks Rob that was the info I eventualy found after the fruitless Manila links but I need a positive reponce from some one re their document requirements and where to send the passports Ive been trying now since 3rd of March waiting for a reply or someone to answer the Phone

The Nuns told Jhean there was only one other application from a filipina to go to Portugal so perhaps there was just not enough to do here

Well came back from getting my single month visa extension and exit clearance to find an e-mail responce from Jhakarta joy Dont know if simply putting the problem here has shifted something or if Peters calls were the key but contact is contact

The young woman doesnt seem to understand what I want though as she has in cluded stuff about tourist visas still hopefully I have someone to talk to and its still at least a week Monday till I can get my NSO Marriage certificate

If my net was any slower it would be on clay tablets

    That's good news Keith.
Similar experiences in London also........................... getting someone to understand what is needed. Must be a highly unusual request.

Keep us all updated. Time has a habit slipping past.

    Just noticed this Keith.
Looks like a flight to Jakarta is on the horizon for you and Jhean :)
Think you may need a visa for that :erm:, Jhean can travel freely in Asia can't she?

Not on-line much, tankers and life on the road etc.

Thats not on my agenda now Mike my view was that this has to be postal since one cannot normaly be forced to leave ones own country by air to apply for a visa Manila would be bad enough so Im hopefull that this will be a blessing in disguise

I have sent a clarification e mail just now lets see what comes back

I hope it works out the way you want it Keith.

Visas in Indonesia were always fraught with complications in the past for me and ship's crews I had to organize.
"Greasing the wheels" was always the order of the day there :erm:

Sounds like it might take some time Keith.
Are you sure your chosen route is the best one? ;) I'm impressed that you can communicate in Portugese. Well done.
To be honest it took me a good 3 years to get to grips with Japanese. Still couldn't read it though. My wife was fluent reading, writing and speaking.

Keith, I'll give the consular visa section another call tomorrow and ask them what documents are needed for spouse from Phils for settlement in Portugal. Hope I can find someone a little more understanding and interested than last couple of times.
I'll post here what transpires. (if anything)
It's no problem as I'm interested to know more anyway>:)
