    Hi folks,

Glad to have found you guys. Recently began a 'long distance relationship' with an absolutely adorable Bulacan girl who really has knocked the wind out me & I feel if things progress on their current course there will be a meeting in the near future, then hopefully much much more. It's a beautiful, scary thing :)

I really am in my element with this funny gorgeous girl but concerned a little that when we meet, & decide we are meant to be, the ensuing politics involved to have us together here in the UK will overwhelm us. As you've undoubtedly guessed I'm very new to this & welcome any comments or info.

    Panickly smiling

Welcome to the forum Tam.. :welcome:

I know how you feel right now, I've been there and I think most of the people on this site have been there as well. On one hand you want to dive right in, but then you're also a little scared as to what will happen out of all of this.

And for me, the best decision I ever made in my life was taking a 3 week holiday to the Philippines in 2009, to spend it with my (now wife) and her family.

The good news for you is that in the Manila area, there are plenty of places to go on dates. But trust your lady to guide you round the city and her local town, she'll keep you safe!

My one bit of advice you should really take to heart is to save everything! Save exchanged emails, messages and any post she might send to you. If this is the real thing and in time you marry this woman, that evidence comes in handy when applying for a settlement visa.

Other than that, keep your wits about you and don't be afraid to ask any questions on here.

    And good luck! ;)

Welcome Tam. Kuya gives good advice there, don't be afraid to ask any questions on here. most if not all will be answered by the folk here. But obviously the best thing, as Kuya says is to get out there and spend some time out there with her and keep your wits about you. Good luck

I second all what hs been said, but must add a word or two of warning............

Under any circumstance, do not part with any money, until you actually meet the lady, and you reckon the relationship has legs.

    Welcome to the Forum.

Good luck. I was in a similar position just 3 or so years ago.

At first I thought I could just book a flight for her and bring her back to the UK but soon realised that that was far from the truth. However she has been in the UK for 2.5 years now. And though a pain in the butt to meet the paperwork requirement, it is all still very possible.

Welcome Tam, don't do tomorrow what you can do today, book a flight and get over there, you're guaranteed to love it and you will get a good idea of what the good lady and her family is all about. I advise you to take on board what the other chaps have said here though.
Even if you book the flight for a couple of months time the anticipation of visiting your loved one will build and build, smashing!!

Thanks for the warm welcome folks :) I know now I've come to exactly the right place & fully intend over the course of the next few months to be a complete pain in the butt with question after question after question so please be patient :) I know nothing at all outside my desire to have this girl in my life properly but happy enough at this stage to take the baby steps until I can finally fund a trip over there. That'll be the big one, the 'make or break', as they say - fingers crossed :)

Thanks for the sound advice, & you're right, but I've had experience with the leaches, (some of them very convincing). This girl, on the other hand, lives, by her own admission, a 'simple' life & is happy to continue to do so regardless of who she's with or where that may be. The topic of coin has never been raised thankfully, giving this relationship some major 'whew' points :) I have confidence in her :)

Ask as many questions as you like Tam, I'm sure someone here at BF will accommodate you :), "when in doubt ask" that's what I always do here.

Its a good sign that she's not asking for coins of the realm at this stage, no mobiles no computers, you might have bagged a good one, you will find out over the coming months, just be vigilant. As I always say here, "if you want to part company with your hard earned cash then PM me and I can accommodate you without any problem what so ever :D

Awright bud, dead gid tae meet yi :) First time round (above) was a mere burst of newbie exuberance so probably best ignored anyway :) No-one told me of the statutory, and somewhat extensive, period of sorting the wheat from the chaff but i got there in the end, although in many ways I feel we've still to begin - Embassy awaits
