    Howdy y'all. :)

My name is Vyv (short for Vyvyan). I had no choice in that; it got me in so many scrapes when I was a young because other kids would taunt me by saying that it was a girl's name ;) I think my parents had wicked senses of humour ;) Seriously, it was actually my paternal grandfather's name, so I guess I was named after him.

I will be 60 years old in July of this year. I am a BIG Bristol Rovers fan. I was actually born in Romford; the nearest football team to there is West Ham, so I also follow their fortunes avidly. I love cooking, which is how I fortuitously came across this site, when I was Googling for Filipino food suppliers in the UK.

I have built up a very strong online relationship with a beautiful Filipina, named Jo, in Davao City. We are hoping Jo will be coming to visit me later this year. We are looking to make the move permanent but will need some help with procedures etc, hence my joy at finding this site.

I am very pleased to have found BP and hope that I do not become too much of a PITA in my early days here, as I do have some questions that I may need to ask. However, I am sure that many of them have already been broached as this seems a very comprehensive site.

Thanks for accepting my registration. I hope I can become an active and useful member.

    Cheers peeps.

I was born in Ilford, Vyv. Just next door. I did spend some time, a few years, in Collier Row at one point. Football has always been in my family and I was always a Hammers fan in my younger days.

    Hi Vyv,
Hope you have seen your "girlfriend" on cam?
One bloke flew to the Philippines to be met by a bayot (gay bloke) when he arrived:erm: :D:D:D
That must have been a shock

I would fly out to meet her there, then you will understand her more in her surroundings and customs.

Thanks all for your warm welcomes :)

Yes, Aposhark, we chat on cam, and I have been vetted by her two daughters and am respectfully referred to as Lolo by her granddaughter :) She has been separated from her husband for about 10 years, so meeting her in her backyard could be a problem.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Malchard. :like: However, Jo is 52, so kids will not be happening.........I will be happy to keep trying just to see if we can defy biology though ;)

OK John, I was tempted to explain my nickname in my introduction but did not want to post too much, for fear of overkill. :)

Back in early 1992 there was an on-line quiz network called "Twin": It was used by Whitbread breweries in some of their pubs and enabled the customers to play against each other and those in other pubs by using a hand held console, via a televised link. Although I live in the wrong side of town to be a Rovers fan, I was not alone, so a lot of the players used one of Rovers nicknames, the Gas, in their on-line nicknames, but they were usually bland, such as Gas1, or TheGas etc: I wanted to be different, so set about coming up with a name to reflect my allegiance but with some originality to it: :erm:

The Rovers manager at that time was named Denis Rofe, so I used his initials and Gas, thus DRGas was born. People recognised it as Doctor Gas, and indeed, even now, some people know me as Doc, rather than Vyv.

There ya go. I hope I have not bored y'all?

    Cheers.

    Vyv

I see. Thats good as I wondered if it was linked to flatulence or something. :D Also I work in the oil and gas industry so wondered about that line.

I remember Dennis Rofe the player. Though I had to google his club(s). I see he was born in Epping. Again just up the road from where I was brought up.

I think he stayed but can't remember exactly, but I seem to remember he did send a lot of money to her/him :erm:

You can see many men in Phils internet cafes, obviously posing as ladies, they have too many windows open on the monitors to be doing something else :erm:

I thought I had seen a similar thing in an internet cafe in Cebu, but I also know from my wife she can have 4 or more chat windows open with all of the different members of her family and friends online at the same time.. So, you never know. Those Pinoys might be just talking with their friends.

I have 59 Tabs open in Chrome right now, of which just one is British Filipino, given that I'm just about to go to sleep I only have one copy of my development environment (Visual Studio) open plus one copy of SQL Server Management Studio, Yahoo Messenger, Skype and Outlook, there were a few more earlier on.

    I do a lot of research :D

I take your point Mike and you're probably right, but at least one or two of them might have real jobs although it's not easy to do real IT work in an internet cafe, some of the others might be genuinely trying to research jobs and other stuff.

Maybe I'm too skeptical, Jim :erm:
