Giving the kids a thick ear could land you in very hot water, Timmers.

Even worse than taking their photo. ;)

    Yes :)
There could be serious problems with their parents and with the police also.

I still say that to minimise the chances of this sort of thing happening to our wives, we should take care not to encourage xenophobic politics.

    Why bring politics into it?

It has a trickledown effect. Unfortunately.

What I should have said is that they will get their cum up pence, not me giving them a thick ear

I suggest that you watch Trevor Phillips' documentary on the subject which is being broadcast on Channel 4 this week, tomorrow I think.

Do you? I suggest you miss the point. It is obvious that some on this thread have witnessed racially related harassment / abuse to their wives. What I am saying is that that kind of racially charged behaviour towards our wives can and is fuelled by racially charged sentiment echoed by some of our politicians. Common sense.

There will come a time when one of our members wives will have experienced the next level up ie racially charged assault. I hope of course it isnt my wife. Or any of our members wives on the end of it.

Often, though not always of course, the three grown men will keep their racialistic sentiment under wraps and exude it in a more subtle way.

Yes, it's about racial discrimination. The story was the friends of the kid who got punched got back at him.

What's with machetes? I hear a lot of stories in different parts of the UK that kids attacked, slashed or bringing that certain kind of weapon. :erm:

We have had the odd thing but in and around London there are so many mixed race couples hardly anyone notices. The other point is my wife often gets thought of as Indian or occasionally Thai which annoys her also lol! But as she speaks with a London accent which is quite broad if she feels the urge often they shut up. Like with Mahargs wife, my wife and her mates have quite strong views on various nationalities and religions :O

My wife is often is more annoyed by Pinays asking whose daughter she is, as she acts and sounds quite British/European but spent two thirds of her life in Pinas!

How long has your wife been here? Interesting that she has picked up a London accent. :D

I am from Landun myself, btw.

Since she is 21 (well nearly 20 and ten months) so about ten years she can speak west Landan init (with her work mates and local friends)or speak more Surrey oh don't you know (When out and about with my friends/family or for work)

Her family/friends quite amazed either in London if they visit or back in pinas, when she speaks to Brits we meet or high and mighty snob phills.

We made a big effort before she moved and in her early days to ensure her English is as good as it can be as seen so many people living and working in the UK who suffered for one reason or another due to poor English skills/ accent.

Most of her English accent was learned pre coming to the UK from watching BBC news

Interestingly my wife thinks her English has deteriorated since being in the UK. Something to do with immersed environment

My elder son went to primary and secondary school in a small Suffolk town. He was on the receiving end of racial abuse for most of that time.

I nipped it in the bud very early with my son.

I went up there and made the (wonderful) Headmistress aware of a bit of teasing he was experiencing at his infants school.

On his school final report before going up to primary,, she had written that she had become so fond of him that she wanted to keep him and take him home with her. lol

He has since gone through the school system in our city, keeping most of the friends he grew up with along the way, amongst whom he is a popular and confident young man.

I wasn't going to comment on this because I didn't want to bring it to my wife's attention (who is reading this forum) but she saw it anyways so here goes.
To be honest this is really dispiriting to read. I didn't read this thread before. I would be incandescent with rage if any number of these events ever happened to my family. I'm slightly heartened by the fact that it doesn't seem that common. I had better plan in advance what I'm prepared to do should it ever happen and then stick to it because my natural tendency would be to give whoever it was a kicking and ask questions later. hmm.
