I was at my son Alex's passing out ceremony from Warsash Nautical College with his mother. She and I have been divorced for long enough to be friends. Another parent at the same table asked "Where are you from?" She replied "Suffolk. And you?" Didn't miss a beat. It's ten years since her citizenship ceremony.
nice one Andrew! Great photo Reminded me of when my wife first arrived here and we were shopping, she asked a\ shop assistant about a dress size and the shop assistant started answering me rather annoyed at her manner I informed the assistant she should respond to my wife not me as my wife asked the question!
Actually his mother and I agreed in the course of our 370 mile car trip there and back that our two sons should be renamed Mister Scruffy and Mister Grumpy.. here's Mister Scruffy in his preferred attire...
Fine looking lads you have there Andrew. You all must be very proud. Brine must run in all your veins! I'm an old landlubber but with half my family coming from Peterhead I feel a calling to be near water. One of my late uncles was a stoker in the Merchant Navy in WW2 - on trips to Archangel & Murmansk. Somehow he became ship's cook - my Dad said he killed more sailors than the Kriegsmarine & Luftwaffe!
I agree with Gerry, they are fine looking lads. But, since when have ratings in the Sea Cadets secured their headgear with chin-straps? Such was definitely not allowed when my daughter joined in Fishguard about 12 years ago - both she and her brother later became crewmen with the RNLI.
Correct. His brother used a Lee-Enfield, and preferred it. Sadly, parents were not allowed to take them home... nor were we allowed to buy an ASC when they phased them out - they had to be turned into landfill for some reason.
