Over the years I have gradually lost interest watching the England football team however last night was an eye opener.
I only saw the second half but it was like watching the future as the team was young, fast and strong.
After being two goals down and then coming back to win 3-2 in Berlin against the World Champions, optimism is high for this year in the Euros and then 2018 in the next World Cup.
I hope Hodgson doesn't revert back to the older, less exciting, players in the summer.

They need to forget Rooney as a given and use him as a squad member as do Man Utd he is past it,great game last night felt for Butland all good goals and better than watching Anty and Deccy

This was great fun in the Maharg household last night.

My wife and my son had a 3 quid bet with each other, and she was really gloating when Germany were 2-0 up.

It ended with me and him up and running round the room and jumping on the sofa. That's his 3 pound boxing subs sorted for this week.

Not a great football fan ,myself. Been to too many live games that have been majorly boring. But enjoyed this one.

Impressed with the nature of the fightback, but it's the third time in a row that we have won a friendly in Germany, which might give a clearer indication of the seriousness with which each approached the match. Our record against Ze Germans in tournaments is, with one noted exception, pretty poor.

That said, I agree that it was a good performance, with a number of newbies who proved themselves more than capable of making the step up.

I agree that Rooney is on the slippery slope towards the MLS, Chinese or UAE leagues. I always tended to scratch my head about this guy. He was supposed to be a word beater, but never really impressed me. 109 caps and 51 goals later, I have clearly been proved wrong. But I'm still not convinced.

I'd much rather that we went into the Euros with the squad we had last night. The older players have had their chance and failed time and again. Give these kids a chance and they might just surprise us all. Pace is always frightening, but these lads seem to have finally allied it to a bit of technical ability.

I've never forgiven him  but the worst thing is that he is too hot-headed and could get sent off at the worst possible time.
It wouldn't surprise me if he ended his career with Everton. He has painted his son's bedroom blue and played in Duncan Ferguson's testimonial recently.

I didn't see the match but read the report and it looks good for the for the future of international football for england, if Hodgson does actually play these new players in proper internationals. Much like northern hemp international rugby, managers seem reluctant to play new blood and keep flogging the old school till it quiet frankly becomes embarrassing. This appears to be changing in english rugby, lets hope its the same with the footballists.

the reason we had such a good fight back was the hunger the newer additions to the team have, they never gave up wanting it, which i honestly haven't seen in a long time, for me they earned their spot for the euros.

and the big question is should rooney go, i think not, to me hes overrated and yes hes our top scorer but in a big game he cant perform, but the new generation showed last night they can and they are hungry for it, players should go because of current form and not for what they did in past

Like you I've never really understood why Rooney has been rated so highly by his club and in general the media, its not like he has been a Bobby Charlton or anything, the chap who he has surpassed in goals and caps for England,

I've only been amazed by how much he gets paid and not by his footballing abilities compared with others.

He's one of the few that would give 110% That's why his best position was in front of midfield, behind the striker depending which format was being played, seen him almost playing right back for Man U.

Right back in the changing room?. Joking.

His record speaks for itself. Appearances and goals for England, amazing really.
He has not played in a great England side like Bobby Charlton.

This England home kit is awful. It looks like a Premier League team's 3rd strip. A neutral colour with everything else a bit of a mishmash.

The home kit circa Italia 90 is what every future England kit should be modelled on.

Oh no, not that one. This one.....

And why or why are the Dutch wearing blue? It's revolting. Their orange kit is iconic and it clashes with hardly anyone else. They should only wear their 2nd kit when playing Ivory Coast or Blackpool, and even then the other team should be strongly encouraged to allow the Dutch to wear their orange.

Orange and blue colours represent Dutch values so it's orange home blue away

I preferred the England home kit when it was all white:
