Actually, conversion to Islam for marital reasons is not that uncommon amongst Christian Filipinos - it means for example that an annulment may be avoided if a man wants to marry again, because the law recognises the right of Moslems to have four wives. This can be handy where visas are concerned...
That's pretty much given but it's an insult to the Muslim community that he is just converting to Islam to be able to marry someone and not because he believe in Allah and their principles.
My wife has a cousin who did just this.. Converted to Islam after falling in love with a Moro! It happens everywhere.. I do believe I have a second (or third) cousin who converted to Islam after marrying a man of Pakistani origin (from my mother’s side in Liverpool).
My now ex-fiancée was a little more inventive - using the Muslim faith as a reason why she could not get an annulment! That is, her lawyer retired and became a Muslim to live with his second wife on an island that had no cell phone coverage!
