Not everyone's a fraudster, I was e-mailed at random by a genuine Nigerian Prince to help him move £500,000,000,000,000,000 out of Africa, I get a 60% share, I gave him my bank details, I am just waiting for it to be transfered
Yes, the world is full of scumbags that prey on the weak and feeble minded. It only takes a small reasoning to realise that if it is too good to be true, it usually is. I have been offered so many millions of Dollars, GBP's which I duly sent immediately to the spam folder Paypal offers, re-direct or forward to spoof@paypal.co.uk . If it is ok, they will mail you to confirm, if it is spam phishing they will thank you for the heads up
I used to belong to a site baiting the 419 scammers from Nigeria https://www.419eater.com/ they also dealt with russian scammers masquerading as single women looking for dumb western males I had fun for a wee while and learnt a lot
In this Pandemic any scumbags approaches me, I had the pleasure on putting it in my ActionFraud account! Just to kill time and save other innocent people from these buggers!
yeah my wife was caught the other evening--paid a £ to win £5000. Her bank was straight on the case.. i got caught early one morning on fbook--free samples of -erm--herbal pills--just pay postage--which i did. i got the pills alright--and soon after there was an attempted debit on my bank a/c for £170 for further supplies. My bank didnt pay it--and after a phone call to my bank they said it was a known scam and stopped any tranactions. even today i had a recorded message phone call from the Inland revenue...
I always wondered how effective the targeting is for spammers. These are the two most recent ones I received. I do bank with HSBC and I have mobile/broadband contract with Vodafone. The wife would probably divorce me if her mobile and internet was disconnected, so I was momentarily concerned by the Vodafone one and why they were trying to take the money a few days early. I don't ever see spam trying to get my banking info for NatWest, Barclays etc (where I've never had accounts). I've never had spam about O2 billing. I've only just moved my own mobile to EE after 20 years with Vodafone, so maybe I'll start getting more targeted spam for EE?
I'm still getting those "we caught you bashing the bishop" emails. They always sign off 'be careful out there'.
I had a spammy phone call this morning from someone speaking on behalf of HRMC. A quick message appeared as the phone was ringing saying I was being investigated on criminal charges of fraud. I was told to press 1 to continue and then the gentleman with a strong southern Asian accent, more or less said the same thing verbally in a very pushy way. I asked him his name and address. He said he was Dave Green and gave me a badge number. I couldn’t understand the address detail owing to his accent so I asked him to repeat it. And then I remembered, I had received my new tax code only this morning. So I mentioned that to him and then the line went dead. Pain in the arsenal.
i very rarely answer my house phone. If i do--its usually talk talk telling me my internet will be cut off in the next few hours / days. It never has been. Its not Talk Talk ( who is my internet provider). Just an old worn out scam. But i do wonder if the Indian caller really does believe they do work for Talk Talk ?
One of my old lady friend received an insurance email. without explaining to me she doesn’t really have insurance with them as she has her insurance is with a different company. She then asked me to return the call. So when I tried to call the company the answering machine says in a strong accent! telling all the extensions etc and when the office timing is mentioned “We are open from EAT AM to SEX PM. Which bust me into tears laughing! So she asked why am I laughing my arse off? After I explained to her, she then couldn’t stop laughing too!
