First they came..

This is a classic statement attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller, who after remaining silent as the Nazis took Germany to what would become the holocaust, found himself a victim of that regime.

It is a lesson that when wrong is being committed and somebody else is being abused, it is the duty of everybody to stand and speak their mind, because one day that same abuser might turn their attention elsewhere.

Anyway, enough of the side talking. I was making a parable to how and why this website came into being. But instead I shall come straight out with it...

I chose to leave Filipino UK after the debacle that was the mass banning and demotions of Moderators, Trusted Members as well as some Respected Members. I had no intention to contribute to a community when it was that community under attack from their own administrator, for simply calling a spade a spade! And it was not the first time I had thought about it..

Almost a year ago, there were a few members banned during a thread on that forum that got out of hand. Numerous people got banned including Trader Dave, his wife to name the two I remembered most. Trader Dave got banned because he posted out loud what everyone was thinking, and the administrator banned him and his wife. A few other people got banned in that thread too. The user Tawi2 thought that he too was getting banned and went over all of his old posts and modified them all to a ".", so if you go over those closed threads, his replies and thread starters are nothing but dots.. He then left the forum, never to post again.

It is a shame myself and more others did not do the same then!

Anyway, like most users I carried on believing that there was something worth holding onto in that forum. And I had made contacts with people I consider friends, people who in the future I think would be good to know (if not for me, then for Rizza - my mahal). Then I started posting less and less, noting a different atmosphere with several key members gone from when I had joined and others not so eager to carry threads on, or had other things to do.

I also noted that Pete, a moderator at that site was also absent. Like Tawi2 he was well liked and a huge contributor. Perhaps he found the administrators behavior distasteful too?

Then a thread appeared on Filipino UK called "Infidelity in relationships". I read a starter from Florge talking about how she had seen a TV show about a man who fell out of love with his wife and instead of ending his marriage, cheated on her. Unknown to me at that time (I had more and more become less interested in that forum), this was a way for Florge to state her anger to the way the administrator had treated his long suffering wife. Anyway, I checked back into the forum a few days later to notice that the same thread had many posts and was very popular, and Florge had also been banned!

Strange, there was no swearing, nothing that has not been said in threads before. Why was she banned? As I am friends with Florge I asked her when she appeared on Facebook what had happened, and so she told me how that thread was simply a means to voice her thoughts without naming the people involved.

Back to the forum, I noticed Walesrob and Dom had been demoted.. I noted on one of the threads concerning this that the cull was on, and I knew full well that the administrator was once again on a banning spree. Though this time, I knew part of the reason why. However, I did not know what Walesrob and Dom had done to deserve the treatment they were getting, how after many years as trusted members and moderators they were suddenly cast aside. It turns out they had done nothing wrong, it was their wives who had made that awful transgression of becoming a friend with the administrators wife (and they will fill in the rest). But it was clear that nobody, long standing friend or not would be safe on that forum from the ego of the administrator.

And so I too left, but I decided against a thread like Walesrob, Dom and Penny. just went silently after deleting my photo album..

And so, this site came into being. A place where helpful information and real social networking can happen without fears of upsetting the administrator. A place where Filipino only discussions are encouraged, even though I myself cannot moderate or understand 99.9% of it.

I would like to point out that the start of this post, with the statement of Pastor Martin Niemöller is not in any way comparing the banning and insulting of a few people online to a holocaust. I am (however) making a point that when someone with a level of power (such as an administrator of a forum) abuses others, it is the community who should stand up and say what the :f:

Now, there are some on Filipino UK who have recently been promoted to Moderator or Trusted Member who have been calling members of this forum sad and bitter on their "secret" Trusted Members forum. I understand that they are trying to solidify their position and keep the status they now have.

Though I pose a few questions for those people.

• Is it sad and bitter for a man to deny his Filipino wife access to a phone or the Internet for fear of what she might say?

• Is it sad and bitter for a man to produce a "joint" statement about the end of a marriage, which was solely written by himself without the knowledge of his wife?

• which is sadder, keeping quiet whilst wrong is being done, or standing up and voicing your displeasure?

I chose to leave Filipino UK, not because I was demoted or was insulted in any way, but because I could no longer ignore the treatment of my fellow members, friends and associates.

I will never ban members from this site for openly disagreeing with me, nor will I demote a moderator. Moderators do not get paid for the work they do, they do it out of kindness and respect for the online community they are trying to represent. It is a shameful act of cowardice for any administrator to simply demote, ban and insult people like a bully because he can.

This site is new, the Google spiders are doing their thing and in time we will be as accessible to anyone on the web as Filipino UK. With one huge difference.

I am also disgusted at the way Keith has treated Ping, and created a massive smokescreen to whats really been going on. It seemed like he had it all worked out, the Keith masterplan - banning anyone who either had an association with Ping or dared to even utter a word questioning his motives. In my case the only comment I made on FilUK was why arent you letting Ping come onto the forum to give her side of the story, it would have stopped all the small talk, all the rumours, and as a thanks for that, I was demoted, then banned after 5 years hard work as a mod.

I truly believe in karma - you give out good, you get it back, but if you dish out rubbish, it'll come back at you when its least expected.

Remember this quote Keith (or one of your lackeys if your reading this):

Where does one start....?

All has been explained already apart from a couple of small details on the elaborate "Masterplan".

It was so easy to spot the hidden truth and the lies, that it was unashamedly insulting one's intelligence...

Like the "Ruperta Driscoll" profile on facebook, about Ping.... all her friends were flocking to it, welcoming her on facebook, but strangely no answer from her.....
Simply explained by the fact that she didn't put it up at all, she had no knowledge of it what so ever. It was a cunning plan by "hubby" to check out who her friends were, and spy on them.... I am blocked from that one too.... Strange huh...? Why would Ping block me, after all, I accepted her as a friend....???

I was told recently that the break between the two was my fault....?
My fault...? I fail to see how.....
Typical paranoid attitude, it must be genetic in the part of the world that bloke comes from... Everybody else's fault but his own...... All he's missing is a dodgy afro haircut and dark "tache"....

The break was caused by him, by pursuing outside interests while being married to a wonderful person.

Anyway, guys and dolls, this is not a recruitment banner for our forum, this is just to open your mind to what has been going on, and put straight the lies that you have been fed.
Some of you, for peace's sake, don't want to get involved, and it is ok I suppose, some others of you are so afraid of losing your virtual "status" and rep points (to what??? Blue peter badge???) with a demotion or ban, that you actually swallowed your pride so disgustingly and accepted fait accompli'....
But at least spare a thought for a woman, that served her husband loyally and faithfully for years. that nursed him when he needed help and was in pain, that helped him along with his heavy bag at the airports, while pushing his wheelchair....
Spare athought for a woman that thinks that in the last 10/11 years of her life failed in her marriage, and thinks it is her fault... But we all know otherwise, don't we.
Spare a thought for a woman that is at her wits end, and doesn't know where to go, after she is thrown out, not a clue of where she is, as far as I know without own bank account or savings of any sort.
Spare a thought for a woman that for the last few weeks has been mentally abused by instilling self doubts on her abilities and intelligence....

The most appalling thing for me is how this poor woman was denied access to the Internet and phone! Not sure if everyone realises this, but a Filipina in the UK needs access to those things to keep in contact with friends and family back home.

Ahh, yes. the one lady in the boys only club, and how did she get promoted again?. Interesting how a website claiming to be about the relationships between British men and Filipino women does not trust those same Filipino women.

Funny thing is this forum is a fresh start away from the doom and the mistrust of Filipino UK, after I had setup the initial forum we hardly even bothered to talk about it. That is until I got a wonderfully long email with reference to the "Euro Paranoia" thread started by the good doctor.

And whilst some skulk in hidden forums refusing to Man up and convince themselves with delusions of their moral superiority, we will be here just doing our thing. Open to everyone as always.

I like to think of this as like a pub! If I was a regular in a pub but the landlord kept barring my drinking buddies and then they all started drinking at the bar down the street, I might go and visit the bar down the street But at the same time I might also pop down to my old haunt for a few drinks and to talk with regulars... And that is kind of like an internet forum. It is the users who create the content and provide the lifeblood of the forum, when administrators treat members, moderators and anyone else within reach like dirt, then users will migrate elsewhere.

And now those users have a choice, and choice is a good thing. But one thing Keith, no need to ban members for also joining this forum. Euro Pinoy is of your own doing, and people should be free to go back and forth - like the pub I mentioned Ban people at your sites own peril...
