Hi everyone . I really need some help for my visa application. Me and my husband just got recently married. We're now processing the requirements for spousal visa. Anybody here could help us for the financial requirement. Is it possible to present his personal savings, just to meet the required amount of £18600 . And is there any other way to meet the financial requirement?
If you are relying solely on savings the amount needed would be around the £62000 mark. If solely wages then £18600 a year but you can have a combination of both. I'm sure @bigmac will give you a break down of the calculation.
are you able to tell us what his gross salary is--if it is less than the £18,600------then we can help you calculate the savings required.
He get paid an hourly rate , and weekly payslips. The hourly rate was 6.50 and with additional overtime and bonuses. No idea yet for his total gross salary. He started to work last July 2014. And I already have his payslips in hand and a letter from the company.
I believe that you're going to need to add up the gross pay on 26 weekly payslips to work out the gross income over the past 6 months, and then multiply that by two to create an annual figure. This is because overtime based pay that will be taken into account is essessentially the average of any such (overtime) payments over the 6 months prior to the date of the application. Overtime is only taken into account over that period. If the total is still under the 18,600 threshold, then it is possible to 'make up the diffeerence' with savings, however there is a formula to use to determine how much you will need - an example calculator is the link above. Essentially this formula is 16,000 savings plus (2.5*X) where X is the amount your gross income is under 18.600. This detail can be found in appendix FM below. What this means is that if you earn say 14,600 then you are 4000 pounds under. The savings needed (in this example) are 16,000 + (2.5 * 4000) = 26,000 pounds. There are rules about the savings - they need to be immediately accessible (in a cash account - not an investment account for example), they must have been held in that account under your control for 6 months prior to the application, they must be held in the name of the sponsor and/or the applicant - not a third party, and have been 'lawfully derived' - in other words - you need to explain where the savings came from. Also - the income cannot be counted twice - and this means that if you are considering your income (from the past 6 months) then you can't consider any savings you added from that same income over that same period because that double-counts the income. The full text of the evidential requirement (covering what needs to be shown) can be found in this document: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-rules-appendix-fm-se The full text of the actual financial requirement is held in appendix FM https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-rules-appendix-fm Hope this is helpful.
This is from the UKVI document on the financial requirements. It gives an idea about cash savings and how any earnings shortfall can be made up.
