That's a shame - I'm not reading all that guff... Fortunately the gain only runs from 2015 so if I do sell it at some point then it shouldn't be too bad.

Only way a poor girl can get on the property ladder in the UK - get herself pregnant and move out!

Very nice Malcolm, in 2013 my rent was £395 a month for a ****hole 1 bed living/kitchen place near liverpool, I'm paying more than double that now but I have a nice place and a garden, I am envious of you though ;) :D

Wow really well done, a hell of a lot of people who invest in premium bonds never get any return at all :)

Here's a silly flippant question, are you by any chance originally from the South East of England ;)

Most big winners are concentrated there but it's largely because they have large holdings, I'm still a fraction under 5 grand at the moment but will have close to 10 grand in bonds by the time I retire.

n.b. From the September 2023 prize draw, the prize fund rate will increase to 4.65% from 4.00%, its highest level since March 1999. The odds will improve to 21,000 to 1, their best level since the April 2008 prize draw:

Interesting - the max you can hold is £50k - the first £1m winner bought a block of 30,000 and with the exception of the £4,200 (Bond Value) all the other top ten winners (for Sep 23) held blocks of £8,000 or more and I'm sure that'll be the case for most of the bigger prizes - so you're probably right!

Perhaps your £100/month is not the best approach - You could always cash them in and get a block of £5k but you'll miss out a month or two. Out of interest, (which for me is through the roof at the moment) I'm going to have a closer look and see which ones are winning and whether they're in bigger blocks when they update their records - really ****ty system they have.

And yes - I think I'm sure I'm the odd one out here - it's all in my name :)

I've never liked the idea of the big blocks, the ERNIE random number machine is one of the few truly random machines in existence so strictly speaking it should not matter but I like my spread out small blocks even though it should not make any difference.

Interesting though that only three of those winners are a little bit north that does support the south being the major statistical winners.

    Apologies @Jim ...,

Just noticed today I changed mine some time ago to WISE... so looks like you don't need a UK Bank Account you can use WISE or something similar to that if you want.

Well I just won another £25 it's better than nothing :D (cropped out my account number)

Four wins in the last 18 months or so and 5 wins over the last 4 years, my average holding was a lot smaller than my current holding most of the current holding is very recent.

6.6% ROI that's not bad you won't get that kind of return on any conventional savings account here, that's enough over a year to pay for one month living cost for my kids.

    About a £14,000 investment?

More like £15k once you allow for the fees etc.

It's a very good return but... there's always a reason/trade off for that: in this case it'll be the limited deposit protection of the initial investment and probably the exit cost of changing it back into cash if you change your mind and want to get out later.

I'm old so the only people who are going to give me a decent Life plan are people I should be avoiding :D
