So far I have watched movies like: She is dating the gangster The Trial Talk back and you're dead One’s a princess Anymore ?
There's a film called Metro Manila, which is quite good. It's available on dvd as it had a UK release.
There's one called "goodbye america" about the yanks leaving subic. An ex girlfriend is in it, the wife doesn't know though!
Which ones did you really enjoy from that list, Maven? I have noticed that Filipino movies do their best to try to make people cry at the end. "Tear Jerkers". On the other hand, my Filipina wife seems to mostly enjoy "Shoot-em-ups" - the action/violent ones
The one i liked the most was She is dating the gangster, the trial was good too. Talk abck and you r dead was crap but then ones a princess was good story too. Im also into bollywood movies and now im watching south korean movies too. Its just after hard days work i just want to relex and watch something different then eastenders or corrie.
On The Job and Graceland are good Filipino Films. I try to stick to the indie type filipino films and not the mainstream romantic comedy type films. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2717558/?ref_=nv_sr_1 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2131523/?ref_=nv_sr_2
I wish Filipino movies were good. I always regret watching one in the cinema. But some classics I know I'd probably watch again.. 1.Magnifico- a tearjerker for sure but it's a really good movie. Jiro Manio, the guy that was in the news recently starred in this as a thoughtful young kid who cares for his family so much it makes your heart melt especially for his younger sister who is invalid. Kinda a reflection of a tpical poor Filipino family as well. 2. Tanging Yaman- family drama with veteran actress Gloria Romero playing as the matriarch to a big family. She is already showing symptoms of Alzheimer's while her children quarrel about a piece of land their late father left for them. This one garnered a lot of awards in MMFF. 3. Anak- the story of an overseas Filipino worker whose children have problems she knows nothing about. She comes home a stranger to them. Heavy drama as well. It starred Vilma Santos and Claudine Barretto. I believe this also received several awards. For feel good movies I usually go for South Korean romantic comedy series. My favorite is 'Full House' starring Rain and Song Hye Kyo. Never fails to make me laugh. You can watch it online thru dramaload.com
