I will be applying for a visa next year and I wanted to apply for a fiancée visa as holiday visa is a bit complicated but there is this question on my mind. I know that i may sound stupid but.. here's the question anyways - Can I apply for a fiancée visa even if i am not his fiancée yet? :erm: :erm: :erm:

From my limited knowledge, I would say you need to be actually planning a wedding to apply for a fiance visa! As it would depend on your boyfriends letter of sponsorship declaring his intent..

so if we are not planning any wedding when I get there, does that mean that I cant apply for a fiancée visa? :(

You have 6 months to get married, they don't give you long....

The fiancee visa is only valid for six months, and it is terribly expensive too.
and one has to get married within that period.

I would suggest trying for a visit visa, I do admit it may not be as easy to obtain as the chances of refusal are much higher, but it will be a lot cheaper and does not tie you to specific condition of marriage.
But you have to show enough savings in your Phil bank, some property and that you have a proper job to go back to, once your holiday is over.
    Plus the usual sponsorship stuff.
Practically the ECO will want to satisfied that you do not pose a flight risk and start illegal work, once in the UK.

    Philippines

The guard at the embassy handed me a piece of paper containing the address above and this info: 'Only applicants with appointments and for interview are allowed to enter the visa section. Those without any appointments will be turned away'

    Hi yuna,

a fiancé visa was our plans last year, my understanding was that I needed to prove to the UKBA that a wedding was planned in the UK for this I had a CNI and asked the registry office if I could book a date to marry. The answer to this was no as both parties need to be present to arrange a date for the marriage. I explained our situation, which was that I need needed the CNI to prove I was single and I also need a date for a wedding as part of the fiancé visa application process. They were helpful and said that I could book a provisional date for the wedding and wrote me a letter to give to the embassy.
I’m not sure if you will find this less complicated that applying for visit visa. Anyway after I did all this we changed our minds and got married in the phils last month hehe :erm:

    hi jerseymarc :)

so thats the answer when asked about the uk marriage thing...
but the other concerns that i have is, I might be asked of the engagement like when did he proposed and how did he proposed etc. and i have no answer and i have no proof to show them as I am not engaged yet hehehe! :erm::oops: i cant make up stories about that or the eco might see that i am lying and ban me for 10 years! :frust:

my bf and I talked about it and we agreed that is its best to try visit visa first (will make a thread about that :) )

    thanks so much jerseymarc :):like:
