Before coming out here to live, my husband and I had a conversation about missing home when we finally decide to move. I've always told him I'd be fine as I have lived in America for months at a time without actually missing home. He pointed out the fact that America is like my 2nd home as my sisters are there and that living there has been a part of me growing up. I disagreed and just told him that I dont mind being away from home as I believe home refers to where you really want to be. I think I have changed my mind... I am really missing home.

I miss how life can be so laid back and I dont have to do anything at all. I never had to do chores as helpers were part of families out there. I dont have to worry about catching a bus as a driver is always available for us for when we want to go out. I miss not having to do the laundry, finding my clothes folded or hung when i need them, my bed made for me. It's all the convenience of those little things. I miss knowing where to go for the best meals, knowing where to go for a nice day out. i miss knowing how the government works.

I miss my mum and dad and thanks to modern technology i can see and talk to them. Hoowevere, i dont think that's enough for me as i like getting hugs and sitting down to have conversations. I miss the personal interaction which is so different from what is customary here. I miss my friends. I find it difficult to make friends here as I am not the type to go out and just strike conversations with people. If you have been in the Philippines long enough you would know that people tend to mingle with you own social circle based on several factors. That is part of our culture, i guess.

    I think I'm really missing home. d

I know exactly how you feel and thats why the R.P has become my real home these days..It took years of sacrifice in the UK to realize my dreams but here I am. Living the dream..It really is where I am happiest.
Personally I would dread having to go back and hope thats not in my future. I think I am probably the wrong person to reply to your message as Im sure there are many good reasons for you to live and be positive about your new life in the UK.. I just cant think of many right now..Sorry.
Just work hard and make plans to be where you want to be one day in the future.
Who knows? By then you may have changed your mind!!

    Hi MisisB,

Sometimes it takes a long time to stop being homesick and everyone is different concerning this.
My wife is now very settled in England and she doesn't want to go back to the Philippines as England is her home now.
I think having two children in England made here her home, after all she has English kids now!
Many people are happy living in England regardless of what some people think.
I am happy living in England too, life is what you make it!
The "social circle" still applies to the UK but I must say that having a family here makes the social circle unimportant, life seems to revolve around the family nucleus.
    I hope you settle soon.
