The Philippines seems to have more than its fair share of 'dual voice' singers. Most are male but one or two females can be found on Youtube as well.

The best I have found is this guy, singing 'The Prayer'

I have seen this often in clubs like the Library in Malate, I am convinced there is digital real time signal processing going on I just don't believe that range is possible in a human being.

First time I ever saw this kind of processing was 2005, I might be wrong but in the immortal words of Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it" :D

Interesting theory oss. Maybe the audio processor is carried in his backpack? All the singers in Filipino Malls seem to wear backpacks!

My own theory is that it is quite possible to sing that sort of range by switching between head voice and chest voice. If you take a look at the videos of Terry Fator he not only has just as wide an octave range but also great tonal variation in his voice - and he does all this as a ventriloquist! I would hate to think that he won America's Got Talent using audio processing! He certainly did not have a backpack - maybe his audio processor was in the ventrilquist's dummy?

Watch the following Terry Fator videos...

And what of this extraordinary Russian singer?

And these other dual voicers from S.E. Asia?

And this Ukrainian singer was accused of using audio processing in a competition but proved the judges wrong when they demand she sings acapella! You will note that she sings with two tones at the same time!

I'll watch when I get home.

I agree it is a theory, however it is at least empirically based on my personal observations in Philippine clubs, the Library is a
night club with the usual take the "p**** out of the audience until they pay the compere large sums of money to shut up :D" usually foreign western audience members but Filipinos are not immune from this treatment and I haver several times over the years seen Aquino family members in the Library, Kris being one of them and they get abused as well :)

In all the stage examples I have heard the pitch is perfect and the overall quality of the voice is so similar during the changes, it has a feel of being processed, gut feeling I admit and I have no evidence.

I would also say that if digital processing was going on it is post mic not pre mic, they don't need to have backpacks to do this, there is an implied collusion with whoever is running the PA system and in the Library that was always my take on it, the sound engineers were in on the act, as backup to that comment there were some, very few, occasions where the sound engineer missed a beat and got it wrong.

There was an act, a Bakla, who went by a byline of "most perfect" he meant the most perfect transsexual conversion including Adam's apple and voice, this guy would pass for a girl any day and his singing voice was incredible, but then they would go beyond natural range and it was strange, very strange, he was stunning and a huge attraction at the Library, he had so much work done and part of the show was a movie history of the changes.

The Philippines is a very strange place :D

I am very open minded and always enjoyed the diversity, Ana has so many friends of mixed orientation and me I always treat people as people, I only comment here for the reason that I felt technology was playing a big part in the floor show, and I think even mall examples like this can be staged.
