    • According to reports, Everton's three-year losses last season amounted to nearly USD 454 million (372 million pounds). According to the Premier League's profit and financial sustainability rules, a club can lose a maximum of 105 million pounds ($128 million) over a three-year period or face sanctions.
    • In March, it was alleged that Everton breached the profitability and sustainability rules and England's top-tier league referred the club to an independent commission. According to the Associated Press, the league decided to act after receiving multiple complaints against the Merseyside club from other EPL teams

Hmmm... other EPL teams - no names given - think we can all guess who one of them was :D

I was feeling a bit sorry for Everton but I think they, or their Accountants, should have (could have?) sought clarification from the EPL about the treatment of the £19.5m (apparently relating to interest costs on the stadium...)

I'm guessing "The Board" simply left the interest costs out of their PSR calculation and maybe that's part of the reason they've been treated so harshly by EPL... Basically they tried to pull a fast one in order to comply/circumvent the rules. This was spotted by other EPL clubs/accountants who obviously didn't think it was fair play and decided to show Everton a red card :D

Great story... even has a Filipino feel to it!

Not about interest on the new stadium it’s the scattergun approach to transfer spending, they were warnedhttps://amp.theguardian.com/footbal...erships-manic-spending-and-blind-eye-to-sense

This link was shown to me last night by a couple who are Everton fans and go to every home game and have been doing for years.
They blame the board and in particular Kenwright
For his as they put it”clueless and wasteful running of the club inn a desire to get back into the top six”

Without more info it's hard to say - seems to be the treatment of the stadium costs that the EPL has used to hit them with:

Everton argue a disagreement over accountancy treatments surrounding their spend on the new stadium is the reason they surpassed their FFP limit, but flawed business in the transfer market is at the heart of the matter - Reports Paul Quinn - unbiased journalist not wanting to make a name for himself or stir up trouble (sounds a bit like you :D)

I think it's a chicken and egg situation... they got themselves into a hole because of their dealings in the transfer market and then tried to dig themselves out of it with by treating the stadium costs... incorrectly.
