Well it's been all over the media. We all know some of the crazy outcomes, but what I overheard on TV news has to take the biscuit.
    How about:-
    Take up smoking at 65
    or
think of some other genuine ideas to convince the insurance companies that you will not live as long as normal, that way you can get a better deal
    on insurance and pension annuities.

This whole ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union smacks of typical EU madness.

Motor insurance is based on risk assessment and using historical data on claims, mortality tables and a range of other probabilities (including occupation, previous health and family medical history). It's rather complex, but it is done for a purpose, to ensure that the average person pays a fair premium based on the risk they represent.

Women generally live longer than men, which means life assurance is cheaper, and annuities are more expensive.
Women generally suffer more ill health than men, so long term income protection and critical illness cover is more expensive.

As usual, the consumer suffers with another worst case scenario.

    Or is it just me?

Well i read it and perhaps the brush is to broad in so far as tightrope walkers would also attract higher premiums but thats not quiet the same as having a particular gender preference ones "life style" would be the key factor here
