The following ePetition has been posted: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/34835

I and 1771 others have signed it and I'm sure many here will also do so!

Good post, +1 from me, (Just processed the confirmation e-mail).

I recently signed the petition to stop the pending mass "benefits migration" from Bulgaria and Romania,
I feel that is (part of) the other side of the equation.

Do these petitions ever achieve anything? :erm:

I don't think so. The £18,600.00 rule will only end through the court room!

    Not so far anyway:(

There have been quite a lot of similar e-petitions.
Like this one they have not quite hit the nail on the head.
Just IMO this one tends to focus too much on someone already living and working overseas wishing to return with their family.

Anyway I'll sign up and support as always.
Most of the previous ones have fallen far far short. Let's see how many support this one.

To get to the target such e-petitions really need to be 'marketed/lobbied' with a popular 'hook'.

The biggest barrier is that just now most of the UK population are supportive of tighter immigration controls

Yes, and ironically that includes some who have Filipina wives or girlfriends, rather ironically.

OK - Joke time, just had this e-mail from one of my German friends... :D

A Romanian arrives in London as a new immigrant to the United Kingdom.

He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says, "Thank you Mr. Englishman, for letting me come into this country, giving me housing, Income Support, free medical care, and a free education!"
The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am Egyptian."

The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for having such a beautiful country here in England."
The person says, "I not English, I am Pakistani."

The new arrival walks farther, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand, and says, "Thank you for wonderful country England!"
That person puts up his hand and says,"I am from Afghanistan. I am not British."

He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an Englishwoman?"
She says, "No, I am from Africa."

Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the English?"
The African lady checks her watch and says, "Probably at work."
