Not sure if this is the correct place for this post but i don't see anything similar, least not on the front end.

I am wondering if anyone has knowledge of any employers or connections in UK that might be open to employing a Filipino coming in to the UK.

For example, i have a Filipino friend who would come over if there were a job to come to. We are trying to figure things out so if anyone can offer any info would be much appreciated.

The job would be required in Scotland.

    Thanks.

Do you mean in this forum?

Hmm, just had a quick look on forum, nothing here so i'm assuming you mean in the actual care sector.

    Haha, excuse my thickness.

    Not used to all this.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will give it a look.

As big Mac suggests, sponsorship is one route but I know locally (Dorset) even the sponsorships are usually coordinated through agencies in Manila. I think the easiest route for Filipinos to work abroad is through agencies in the Philippines, down the OFW (overseas foreign workers) route. Although there are lots of opportunities for OFWs around the Middle East and other Asian countries, in all kinds of employment like house maids, Nannie’s, carers etc, the UK seems to specialise and want only professionals ie doctors, nurses etc. I may be wrong here but that’s the impression I get from the wife who talks to people back home in the Philippines.

    Many thanks.

Whilst i'm here, i have been trying to find out from official sources if quarantine measures are still in place for UNVACCINATED folks visiting the Philippines. Whilst all i can find online say's it IS still in place, my friend over there say's it is not.

I have asked a few philippino' in certain related professions and they say it has stopped, but because i'm getting conflicting responses i asked if the could supply me a statement from an official source. But i get nothing in return.

I cannot afford to get caught up in quarantine so i really need to know what the situation is before i go.

Can anyone help here maybe with this?

    Thanks

    Ok, thanks.

This has changed since i first viewed that webpage, which was after "covid" ended.

And i couldn't believe how long the Philuppines had quarantine measures in place after everyone else had stopped all that.

So after reading that link, it brings me to another important question, which is...

How likely is it that doneone from the UK would be required to get a polio or yellow fever vaccine.

I ask because i will not get these and it will have a huge impact on my decision to go or not.

    Thanks.

Hiya @Fazer1 , a friend of mine went to the Philippines recently and She said quarantine and PCR test is no longer required. Covid 19 travel restrictions has been lifted.

    I hope this helps.

Thankyou Ems, someone else linked me to the gov.uk website which also states the restrictions are no longer in place. Thanks "all" for taking time to help me out.

    Hah, i did indeed.

My typing gets worse and worse on these tiny virtual phone keyboards. Spend more time deleting and retyping than anything else.

Aye, personally I almost never post from a phone as the sign-in to this site is a pain and the typing is an even bigger pain, I admire those of you who can tolerate it :D

I constantly get letters reversed now on my main keyboard and I'm close to being a touch typist after 35 years of typing (and starting to teach myself 10 years earlier on an Olivetti mechanical typewriter).

99.99% of my posts are on a full size keyboard with a very large screen in front of me the only way I feel comfortable these days.

Yes, the wee monitor screens of days gone aren't missed, that's for sure.

As for tollerating it, i'm not sure i could say that's what i do as i'm sure anyone watching me trying to type sometimes would probably agree with. Haha

She is a qualified carer with experience of caring for the elderly. I'm not sure off hand exactly what her qualification is or how many years of experience she has, i'd have to ask.

there was certainly a shortage of staff in the care industry. My wife is manager of a home, and 4 Indian nurses were brought over last december to work as carers at her home. It was all arranged through an agency. But filipinos have to tread very carefully with these agencies--some are real rip off artists--which appears to be normal over there.
