Embassy Wedding?

    I've heard is possible to get married actually in the embassy - is this possible?

    Thats the plan John, not sure if its possible!! Then church blessing and reception afterwards - going to be a busy fortnight or three weeks or four ...:(

    It would be great. A one stop shop. You could even invite the ECO to your wedding reception. Great idea. Photo of the happy couple with the ECO...what a great pic to put into ones photo portfolio for the visa application!

    You can not marry at an Embassy - any Embassy - as weddings must conform to the laws of the country you're in and Embassies are legally "foreign soil". You might be able to hire the Ambassador's residence for a civil wedding and reception but that could be somewhat expensive and may only be an option for a diplomat employed at the Embassy.

    We had our civil wedding at the local mayor's house.

    Well, Steve, maybe not. It might have lead to a radical streamlining of the whole process though. And what an opportunity for the UKBA to make a bit more money out of us....

    I don't think you can marry in the Embassy, correct me if I'm wrong. It's either a civil wedding or a Church wedding.

    Or do a civil wedding then a Church wedding, that cuts the paperwork.
