The old 'xyz is wrong' ploy trotted-out by those who've been caught telling whoppers. In this case, 'xyz' - Glassdoor, aggregates data volunteered by employees. As it's all anonymous, why would the employees 'be mistaken' (lie), they have no reason to.

I gather Boracay has either just been reopened or just about to be.

Yeah they do need the tourism but it is sad to see the beaches looking like Spain in the height of summer.

Saying that I have been to Nasugbu at Easter time and it was like Butlin's :D we ended up on a boat to a private beach to get away from the crowds :)

And yeah I've seen some volcanic sands, this was Subic, very beautiful area, remnants of the Pinatubo event are very clear on the beaches, but I am not that well travelled in the Philippines and I will save the proper exploring for when I retire :)

Unlikely, the clean-up hasn't begun yet! Hotels and other businesses are starting to lay-off staff in preparation for the six month closure. And it will take quite some months to construct and connect sewage treatment facilities to all the island's homes and businesses.

I was watching this English gentleman's (very recent) video about Boracay, just yesterday. :like: Might be of interest. :)

I believe he is 78 or 79 years old, incidentally. Looking good ! :like:

Thanks for posting that @graham. His voice sounds familiar . Is it the guy who posts on You Tube as “a foreigner in the Philippines “ ? He does look really good if that is his age .

Talking of vlogs and Boracay here is one of many on this channel that I have been following which has slowly got me more and more amused

In no way do I recommend it.

This couple have been at Boracay a while and they have slowly downgraded their accommodation all in the name of this guide to the wide world.

They then decided to go to El Nido from Boracay. But instead of flying chose the ferries via manila. And to really rub it in the guy in the name of Kuripotness didnt even get a cabin

One of the last videos on the site and they are in the bunk beds with the steerage customers. Some of the girl half of the couples faces are a sight to behold.

If anyone wants to know about the term "face" and losing it should spend some time watching her while he drawls on about luggage and school trips and lack of AC.

    A seriously unimpressed filipina.

In a span of four hours, about a hundred volunteers collected at least 2,010 kilos of trash from a seven-hectare area on Sumilon Island, Oslob town in southern Cebu on Tuesday.

These included plastic bottles, candy wrappers, plastics, coffee and shampoo sachets that were picked up from the sandbar, underwater, the mangrove area and a forested area that were governed by the municipal government.

For environmentalists, these were just a “lot of garbage.”

“Ideally, it should be zero,” said Anna Oposa, co-founder of Save Philippine Seas (SPS), an independent movement that aims to protect marine life in the country.

Armed with garbage bags and rakes, at least 100 fishermen, their families, divers and Navy reservists started picking up garbage on the sandbar about 7:40 a.m.

Great effort by all of those involved . Would be great also, if other areas can follow their lead .

The most shameful habit of a lot of Filipinos. Throwing garbage/litter on the floor. There really can be no excuse.

Ideally it should be zero and could be close to it with some care and responsibility by all. It just needs an adjustment of mindset. Especially so for a country that has a world class asset in terms of tourism.

It is funny that some Filipinos understand "cash is king", Jim, but cannot understand exchange rates and changes in earnings too!

Great to see the effort and hopefully the process continues. The shape of things to come for more beautiful places hopefully.

We are guilty of just chucking rubbish too in all fairness. I was stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway last week when returning from East coast of England. The traffic was at a standstill and I peered at the hedgerow at the side of the motorway. It was a disgraceful mess of plastic, papers and even an nice vintage bottle of urine!
