Some time back there was an excellent thread on this subject and at the time one member, a Filipina, pointed out an extra bit of red tape that had been introduced just to make life easier (not).

Mrs Ash has decided she wants to re-acquire her Filipino citizenship in order to buy and own property in the Philippines.

Does anyone know the thread or know the process? I cannot for the life of me remember the fine detail of the extra hurdle that was introduced. I do recall @oss posted a few times in the thread.

Having looked on the Philippine Embassy website I have a feeling it is to do with the marriage certificate issued in the Philippines.

Got it and it was indeed the marriage certificate.

To explain. Mrs Ash sends her mother about £400 every month or every other month. Her mother never spends it. So it has been mounting up. So my wife wants to buy a small 3 bedroom house (not in the provinces) that her mother can live in when she retires and that my wife can use when visiting. It would be in both their names. But of course my wife needs to reaquisition her Filipino citizenship.
