Filipinos might have to wait for a few more years after the theme park giant, Disney, has confirmed it is not seeing a Disneyland in the Philippines at least for now.

In an email sent to the Morning News USA, Disney Examiner’s Vannyda Thach, said Disney belied rumors that the company is eyeing to put up an amusement park in the Philippines. Disney Examiner exclusively got the company’s official statement.

As previously reported by Morning News USA, a hoax article circulated online draw mixed reactions in the social media world after it claimed that Disney has penned a $350-million deal, which would pave the way for the construction of Disneyland Philippines.

The original source of the article, which became viral in the Philippines earlier this month, was the website OKD2.com. According to the hoax article, Disney has already confirmed that a contract for $350 million was already signed and inked.

“At Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we continually look for ways to grow our business and as part of that process, we have conversations with many different entities. While the Philippines is an attractive market, we have no plans for the region at this time,” a spokesperson for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts wrote in a statement exclusively furnished to the DisneyExaminer.

Actually the Philippines might well have hosted Disney's first park in Asia but I don't think I need to spell-out the main reason why Disney changed its plans and developed Lantau Island in Hong Kong.

I think HK would certainly have more pulling power than the Philippines as its reputation proceeds it, lots of culture and the ease to visit mainland China and Macau during your visit to Disney in HK.

I'm a little surprised that the Philippines was even being considered by Disney.

Many of the performers at Disneyland HK are Filipino - but most of the visitors are from the PRC.

The province of Guangdong alone has a population similar to that of the Philippines, and they have more disposable income and much better transport links. No contest.
