    Hi Dave,

Thanks for replying. Although, I am not altogether convinced by your argument you are, at least, passing this off as an opinion and not as fact so I have no problem with that :)

However, @Markham is quite adamant that Britain would have been forced into Schengen and the Euro. He likes to make these unsubstantiated claims before throwing a hissy fit and taking his ball home. He's gone all tampo on me :( but, if ever he does feel he has the strength to debate, I have a list of questions formulating for him.

    #DespiteBrexit ...

Britain's employment rate - at 74.5% of those between the ages of 16 to 64 - is at its highest since 1971:

The unemployment rate has fallen to 4.7% from 5.1% twelve months ago:

There were 1.56 million unemployed people (people not in work but seeking and available to work), 45,000 fewer than for September to November 2016 and 141,000 fewer than for a year earlier - #DespiteBrexit.

It comes a point where all talk and arguments, pro and con, are totally superfluous.

Rightly or wrongly, It is happening.

It will be tough for a while, but nothing that this country cannot cope admirably with.
After all, it has seen worse times, and with everybody pulling together, it ovecame the odds.

The article below amused me, it is about Starbucks moaning that they have seen their profits drop in the UK because of Brexit.

Nothing to do with them being well overpriced and giving extremely bad value for money then? :)

Did you notice the links beneath that story for related items? One of these is entitled "Starbucks reports record annual profit" and is dated 4th November 2016, just a few short months ago!

The BBC, being the talkie version of the Guardian and Observer newspapers, is keen to put a pro-EU slant on any story it can as, with the referendum done and dusted, it is no longer required to be impartial in its reporting.

I think the BBC was reported for their pro EU bias views during the referendum campaign, one or two of our friends here would disagree though :)

I have noticed on the BBC website that they are all over the place on UK property prices too, last week they were reporting rising house prices and this weeks headline is that they are stagnating.

I think when the House of Commons is in recess they struggle to come up with current news articles.

Listened to 'World Service' recently ?

An absolute embarrassment, and a disgrace.

The listening audience is now subjected to presenters with the most unintelligible accents imaginable.
    It is a BRITISH broadcaster.
This business of trying to humour their African listeners (for instance), by having a presenter who speaks like an African with the broadest of accents, is just nonsense, and the PC 'inclusiveness' taken to the ridiculous... IMHO.

Why are the British now ashamed of speaking clearly, with a neutral accent that everyone can understand ?

I used to listen to the old world service in some of the most rural of places in this world...Back then it was like home from home to me.. A real pleasurable experience..
Those days are gone unfortunately. Same with British embassies these days... Visa and tax collectors..Nothing more
Full of useless scumbags these days IMO..

I used to listen to the world service years back when working in Czechoslovakia, back then all the presenters spoke perfect English.

As you say, the BBC often has incoherent presenters on both radio and TV just to be PC.

While we are moaning about it, its about time that bloody Ken Bruce was put out to graze on radio 2 :)

I enjoy his quiz but I cant cope with his droning voice, its not really anything to do with his Scottish accent :)

Most of the presenters on radio 2 during the day are dreadful
    Evans loudmouth poor interview skills
    Bruce dull
    Vine egotistical and vain
Wright past it not funny talks over everything
    Mayo he is ok
Ray Moore was top notch, Sarah Cox this week has been great with her Lancashire accent. Fern Cotton has been ok.

.... And what about the preaching on the BBC ? 'Thought for the day', etc ?

I do not want damned religion being preached at me on Radio 2 for gawd's sake. Keep it in church !
