Used to listen to this all the time, my father was a big jazz fan... There's a series called McCartney 3,2,1 in which he mainly talks about Beatles songs and how they came up with this and that which I like but in episode 3, that I just watched tonight... he like opens a window in to how so many other artists, kinks, Hendrix, Dylan, Roy Orbisson on and on .. with clips and all affected him - definitely worth a watch - what a magical time to have grown up in.
