Hello! My son’s fiancee recently got approved with a ‘D - Marriage cp/standard’ visa. Is this the fiancee visa? We also read online that after the marriage she would have to return to home country? Is this true? They got married in South Africa but unfortunately, the South African marriage registrations did not approved the marriage as my son have missed 1 document that needed to do before getting marriage, so when he returns home (UK) they applied for Fiancée visa for her.
the D of the visa means its resident long stay over 90 days the CP bit is described like this Under the UK Partner Visa or spouse visa, applicants who are either a Spouse or Civil Partner or Unmarried Partner of a UK citizen or a person who is settled in the UK can apply for Family Visa UK to come and live in the UK. If the marriage is not recognised and you have no record of the wedding in legal terms I think you need to get him to marry here, to tidy the legal bit up and apply for a spouse visa once married.
