I really do think it does prove just how morally-debased this place has become when people seek to capitalise on such a grotesque human tragedy as Grenfell to make political capital. The enquiry hasn't even started yet let alone reported but you've already decided that the nasty Tories must be to blame - forgetting that most of the tower blocks that have been tested and found to have the same fire-hazards are in Labour-controlled areas and some may even have been refurbished during a Labour government.

Then they'll be arresting and charging fire officers for implementing the policy of "stay in your flat in case of fire". Rather than look at the immediate causes, the police should be investigating those who supplied and fitted the cladding as well as those who approved its use and conducted post-refurbishment safety inspections.

"Police said detectives would examine firms, individuals and those who refurbished the block and devised its fire safety policies"

    Which part was unclear?

I think you'll find that "austerity" had nothing to do with causing the Grenfell fire. Kensington and Chelsea is one of the richest - if not the richest - borough in the country. There was no shortage of money but plenty of penny-pinching and possibly corruption within the block's management company.

And the Council charged with overseeing there arms length Management Company

Austerity is not about how much money you have but who you deny it and therefore services to.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...ng-control-warned-about-refit-insulation-plan

"Building safety experts warned in 2014 that the insulation planned for use on Grenfell Tower – which was installed and which fuelled the fatal fire in June – should be used only with non-combustible cladding.

The Guardian has seen a formal certificate issued by the building inspectors’ organisation, Local Authority Building Control, stating that the insulation chosen for the £10m tower refit was acceptable for use on tall buildings only if used with fibre cement panels, which do not burn"
