Hi again. I am applying for a fiancee visa, for myself first, then if successful, will apply for my dependent child next, wait for her visa to be granted as well, then we will travel to UK together. But in application for myself, (appendix 2) the financial requirement that I should meet, should I tick the applying with no dependent or applying with one dependent child already?

in the application you will have to answer that you have a dependant child----and whether the child will be travelling with you. this will affect what the sponsorship financial requirement will be

in our case--my fiancee listed her child--but not travelling with her--so the requirement was £18,600. her plan is to bring her son over next year.

Corina, who was my fiancée and who is now my wife, applied with her son and they travelled together. It all went quite smoothly.

I am guessing that the reason you want to apply first, and, if you are successful, your daughter will apply, then you will travel together, is because you don't want to risk losing two application fees, so you feel it will be better to go "step by step".

I can certainly understand that, but to be honest I am not sure it is the best idea.

Because of the time needed to process your daughter's application, your own visa will only have a few weeks' validity when you do arrive, and the marriage procedure in the UK does require quite a lot of time for notices to be posted and so on, so you might run short of time here.

Also, the case officer looking at the applications may get puzzled about why you are not applying together, and may reject an application which looks unusual.

I would therefore "put all your eggs in one basket", and apply together!

    You should apply together.

You can't get your visa, then wait for your child to get one, then come together.

    There isn't enough time.

a question--if a child application accompanies a fiancee visa--does the child also have to apply for FLR within 6 months also ?

Yes. Krian arrived with Corina on a six month visa to accompany her on her fiancée visa and he had to apply for FLR(M) also.

so--if the sponsor is going to have to pay for 2 x visa fees--followed by 2 x flr fees ( plus 2 x IHS )---then it makes sense to marry in the filis--and save £1600+ in flr fees.

I think that is pretty much right, assuming the costs of the wedding are the same, with the proviso that you save £100 in IHS. But in our case there were reasons for marrying in the UK.

Exactly .....in effect fiancee visa will cost you more.. how I wished we did spouse visa instead (for entry).

Yup. The fiancée visa route means two nerve wracking waits of several weeks, rather than just one.

But, on the positive side, the fiancé(e) visa route does mean that the Filipino/Filipina partner can see the UK for themselves and get to know their prospective spouse better before deciding to go ahead.

    Oh
Oh my....I wish I have known this before. But it's too late for me to do that now. My appointmen at VFS is tomorrow...yes, the main reason is to save one visa fee if we get we get a refusal...

Cherie - here's what to do...

You have a space on the visa application for you to state when you want your visa to be valid from. It is valid for six months from that date. Your visa will take around six weeks from tomorrow to be processed and your daughter's visa will be longer, because you will need to include your passport in her application, so you must wait till you get your passport back.

So, I suggest that you ask for your visa to be valid from a later date - for example, the first of October. You can change the date as part of the VFS process if you gave an earlier date on the online application.

That should give time for you to get your visa and apply for your daughter's visa.

    Good luck!

Fiancee ( entry visa) then FLR (M) then another FLR ...then ILR.
It will be a quiet 2.5 years after BRP release but I guess it would be a great idea to lessen my shopping and save bit by bit.wouldn't it?
Anyone has some ideas of these future expenses as to how much would be? Just curious.
But yeah you're right..to us the biggest challenge was the weather...but it turned out this is the perfect weather for me...a cold summer.

I have submitted my documents at VFS yesterday. They still give out checklist, but the girl at the help desk was very nice to help u arrange your documents in order...And the best part of my experience yesterday is...I was waiting for my queue number to be called, when the guy from the VIP lounge came out, ask his coworkers on what the next queue number is...(it was like.".And the wiinning queue number is.... ") then I just heard him calling out mine. So i was accomodated at the VIP lounge without even paying for that kind of service..His reason was they only had 2 applicants inside who are almost done, . .So I changed my intended date of arrival there, paid only 675 for the courier and sms/email alert services, had my biometrics taken, then went home..thank you eveyone, especially to Methersgate..
