There are two native species of cobra; the Philippine Cobra, in Luzon and Mindoro, which, you may like to note, is the most venomous cobra of the lot, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_cobra and the Peters' Cobra, or Samar Cobra, in the Visayas and Mindanao, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samar_cobra My mother-in-law-to-be was bitten by a Peters' Cobra at 9.30 this morning. As it happened she was on the phone to Kay at the time. The family got her to Molave but the hospital there had no antivenins and said she needed to get to the A&E Dept of the main hospital in Pagadian, which she got to by bus and tricycle eventually... they did have antivenin and she is now under observation there. A close shave. Luckily she is in robust health for a lady of her age.
Yes. Not good. And not good for the elderly. On a sort of reverse note, my wife's friend's mother has arrived here, yesterday. She has arthritis. She is here for 6 months so not the greatest of places to be with arthritis. Is it a big problem in the Philippines I wonder?
Sorry to hear about this. Very lucky that it was not a more venomous snake - Philippines seems to have quite a few highly venomus snakes.
Thank you. Mama's now back home; with a boxful of medicines. Today's medical problem is that Kieran has come out in spots, which is odd as he had chickenpox when he was two and he had the MMR jab. Doctor prescribed a steroid cream saying it was probably an allergy "but if he doesn't get better bring him back for a CBC"...
