Has anyone tried traveling on this airline. Been looking for flights and they have the cheapest offer. Just wondering if this airline is good :erm:

I have flown with them. Singapore to Shanghai about a dozen times.
Not used for 6 years though. :erm:

I found the service very good. Greatly improved from my first flight so they were keen to learn.

I normay fly Emirates and find their service excellent.

Checking to-day, because of your question, I have found China Southern now operate from my local Int. Airport.

Emirates to Manile in November is £ 923
    China Southern is ¥3,770 @ ¥10 to the £1 = £ 377 say £ 385 allowing for exchange costs.?

CORRECTION : The dreaded UK departure Tax brings the fare up to £692.05 when booked in UK:erm:

I now seriously am considering China Southern for our next trip to PI.
As they are operated by KLM, on my route, I am reassured on safety.

    Thank's for the question ;)

Majah, I must admit that I have been put off China Southern by some of the negative reviews but they are the cheapest these days, I had not seen that review site before but the general message from other reviews I read was very similar.

There seems to be a bit of a common thread that Guangzhou airport is a bit of an organisational disaster and that bothers me as it makes me worry about my baggage amongst other things.

I know that KLM operate some of the China Sourthern flights from Europe to Guangzhou on code share but I don't know if this is the case on all of the flights.

Tom I would be interested to know more about what you know of the KLM operation of some of the legs of the China Southern flights?

Emirates are also good Majah but I personally never liked the Manila - Dubai leg as the aircraft were not as comfortable and the stopover at Dubai is often very long, nice airport first time there but not a fun place to spend a lot of time, I would have more confidence in their organization though.

When it comes down to it although they are expensive just now KLM will get you Manila - Amsterdam - Glasgow in just two flights and Schiphol Amsterdam is very well organised as are KLM.

Only the information shown on their "flight search" page.

Indeed more to the trip than price. Emirates system is like clockwork. A lost bag does ruin a trip.?

The stop-over is 3.5 houre , each way, for me so not a hardship.
The EMIRATES lounge did provide excellent food and bevvies, even Champagne, for free also.

Ah ok, good to know that at least one leg is by KLM.

My stopovers at Dubai were 6 hours but that was a long time back, regards lounges I never had that privilege on the couple of times I flew through Dubai, I ended up in that pub near the middle one floor up, is it an Irish pub?

I have had access to the Crown lounges in Schiphol on numerous occasions and while the nibbles are pretty poor with KLM the Champers was always nice. There's just something about Schiphol that I have always liked and it never bothers me spending a lot of time there, with the timing of the old flights I used to get up really early about 2am and would be in Schiphol for 9am with about 5 hours till the flight in the afternoon, a wander around then a few beers and couple of glasses of Champagne was a nice anesthetic before the long flight and worked wonders for getting over the jet lag :)

Regards bags, I have lost bags once but we got them back about 4 days later, not suffered a permanent loss of baggage so far.

As far as I know "ordinary economy" Emirates PAX are fed and watered for free in Dubai.! Emirates do not advertise this though. One has to ask.

When Singers bound and stopping over in Dubai I have often gone over a bottle of shampoo while in transit.;)

Times do change though and they are economising like all the Airlines.

When my wife made the one way trip from Manila to Heathrow we booked the flight on Air China which was a one way bargain at short notice costing £350. The flight change timings in Beijing were a little tight but overall she was very pleased with the experience and as Air China code share the flight With Virgin,a decent level of service and comfort should be expected.

Air China should not be confused with China Air Southern! The former is flag carrier and the latter is part of the "Sky Team" consortium which includes KLM and Northwest Airlines.

Im certainly not confusing them as I deal with many airlines on a daily basis in the course of my companies business

Im flying with China Southern in 2 weeks from London to Manila via Guangzhou too. What amazed me was that they offer you a free hotel room near Guangzhou airport if your transit time is more than 8 hours (you must apply for a free transit visa). The hotel could be 3-5 star i read. This is even for economy passengers. All the budget flights were using Chinese airlines, my London-Manila return ticket cost 285 pounds return ALLIN.
I used to fly CebPac from Manila to Singapore (25 pounds) and Norwegian Airlines from Singapore to London (75 pounds) but the route stopped a few weeks ago, just over 200 pounds return ! Sometimes Scoot have cheap offers Manila to London via SIN.

With CS, you get 23 kg luggage allowance and full meals service.
Of course if things go wrong, it is potentially worse than a low cost airline. i think the worst worry is delays , which seem quite common on this airline. But cheapness is my priority and exotic travel a close second.
Transitting Guangzhoi airport sounds difficult too.

I have flown CS twice with stopover in Guangzhoi and both times have been very good. The hotels they put you in are where the pilots stay and are first class. The breakfast however comes in a little box and is poor.
You are bused to and from the hotel in mini busses.
Big tip is to watch out if there are a few single males in your group they will try to get you to share!
I think you will depart terminal A and you can't miss the letters
    It's a good airport IMO
