As some of you may already be aware we received the good news that our Fiancée application was successful a couple of days ago.

Note that the email informing my loved one of this good news ended up in her JUNK folder I therefore suggest that anyone awaiting news on their visa application should check their junk folder and not have the email account set to automatically delete junk email.

    You will receive two emails,the first of which is copied below;

Sent: Wednesday, July 09, 2014 at 3:21 PM
    From: MANILVisaInfo@fco.gov.uk
    To: *********
Subject: OFFICIAL: UK Visa Application: UKVI-Manila Visa Hub (Ref: 1047792)
Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days depending on which country you applied from or will be couriered back to you only if you have availed of this service. UKVI

This is an automated message. Please do not respond to this email address as incoming mail is not answered.

    .................................................................................................................................

Note that you will receive your visa a day later if the courier service was opted for and all the original paperwork you submitted with your application will come with it.

Emails are normally sent out from both the UKBA and VFS. They are slightly different in content. One, from VFS simply informs you that the process is complete. The other, from the UKBA will relate to the status of the application e.g. your Visa is ready for collection.

Did you get an email from each of them, Timmers?

Yes we got two emails, the first is from the UKBA which is the important one and the other as you say from the VFS.

The reason I started this thread is after the missus mentioned about the email going to her junk folder I thought I wonder what would happen if you didn't pick that up and you had not paid the extra for the courier service. Would your visa just sit there until you enquired? I don't know.

I'd be a bit peeved if my visa was just sat there at the UKBA :) whilst I was still supposedly waiting for the decision.

Well, yeah. We only got an email from VFS which said the process was complete. Not one from the UKBA so maybe thats where ours ended up.

You know I get the impression on reading the posts here at BF that the UKBA provides a shabby service at best, for all the cash we have parted with you think that the service would be a lot more professional than it is. There is not much clarity in the whole visa process and they really need a telephone help line that is fully manned with helpful staff to except visa query's and the like.

You pay good money you expect good service, right?

Next stop the FLR :) for more fun and games although I feel the process will be a lot easier and more of a formality than the Fiancée visa as you can at least have a person on person discussion when you apply in person.

    I agree very strongly.

When my wifes visa was issued we were advised (by the agent) to check the dates on it etc. I asked why. I was told that they do make mistakes with them now again.

Tell you what though. Here in the Isle of Man they are pretty good. I can walk in to the Immigration office any time during the working day and be seen quite quickly without an appointment. And they are very helpful. We are luck here compared to the UK mainland.
likewise I can phone them anytime also.

Just now I am a 5 minute walk from the Immigration office, from work.

Yep. Which route are you taking? The budget route or the top dollar one? There are choices to be made....

I think the top $ route is the only way to go don't you? You could be waiting months for a decision if you go the cheaper way and apply by post by which time your wife could have been working for a few months bringing the money in :)

Whilst I remember John, when is the Philippine road show in Manchester? The reason I ask is because the loved ones passport runs out next February and I was hoping to get it renewed at the road show as opposed to going to London. I didn't find out till yesterday that her passport runs out 6 months after arriving here, that would have made me a little nervous if I'd known before we applied for the visa.

Methinks a trip to London to see the sights, is on the cards?

I believe the embassy is close to Trafalgar Square and that side of town. :D

You're right, I'm just perusing the internet and trying to work out where to take her for two weeks when she comes over, I have Warwick to see the castle, Torquay to see my sister, Lakes, and of course Blackpool. I'm looking at other places too and I'm trying to work out in which order I should visit these places in order not to do so much back tracking.

I will probably leave London until after we are married and we go to renew her passport, we will see.

    Seems like a good plan.

How about Cadburys World in the Midlands?

We are off to N. Ireland in later August. The Giants Causeway was my choice as I normally let my wife choose. I hope she enjoys it. We need the weather to be good and hope that the toddler is in a good mood.

We went to Stonehenge last year and a few other places in that neck of the woods. She enjoyed the trip though isn't conversant enough with Britain's past to get the best out of it but she certainly enjoyed the photo opportunity. :D

You get to see how its made. Some free chocolate thrown in and stuff like that. If your Filipina ( and yourself ) likes chocolate then it isnt a bad place to visit. :D

I think its good to give them a little say on where to visit, the loved one is interested in the Lakes because she saw a documentary on the place, for me its a winner too and I can go there after Blackpool :)
