Hi everyone, i need help in changing my last name to my husband's. i am planning to change it after my application for my first flr but got no idea how to do it. And if i change it after i got my visa (i'm claiming that i will get it :) ) it means my name in my visa will be different and i have to let them change the info again. How did everyone here changed their names and when?

You don't need to do anything. The law in UK is, basically, that you can use any name you want. ID in your maiden name and a marriage certificate is ample proof of using your married name.

You can use other names as a "known as" name. We applied for the visa in my wife's maiden name (which was the name in her passport), and put her married name in the box asking for other names by which she is known. Then you have two names to use in your documentation, and both are valid.

The visa will be in the same name as your passport.

Agreed, my wife has a new passport which is in her married name and happens to be the one she recently flew home on.

The marriage certificate was enough for my bank to allow my wife onto my current account and get a Visa card in her married name. The only thing in her maiden name is her national insurance number, but most women in the UK retain that under their maiden name anyway.

No problem. You can go ahead and change it. We waited till my wifes passport expired and changed her name in her passport at the renewal date. Up until then everything else eg banking, NHS, etc etc went down in her married name from the point of her first arrival in the UK.

Another maiden-married name dilemma. Almost everything goes what's in the passport. In my case, it's still in my maiden name. Same goes with the Biometrics Residence Permit (BRP). I applied for my National Insurance number yesterday and was given the choice of using my married name. So if ever I have to renew my passport, NI is out of the list of name change. :)
