Good day all, I have a daughter in the Philippines, she is 5 years old and applying for her right of abode. I'm her biological father and bringing her to the UK. Her mum will follow at a later date. Will my daughter need a CFO before leaving the Philippines? Thankyou
Thankyou so much for your reply. So even if she is using her Philippines passport with the right of abode the CFO still isn't needed as some are saying she would need to register?
I'm out of date on the requirements as our kids left the philippines as philipines citizens in 2019 and know that things have changed -their status was philipine passport with dependant visa sticker and under 12. Was a requirement back then to have the CFO sticker even though didnt have to attend the seminars so not sure if they still do the stickers for under 12 or if still a requirement. Think we just had to turn up and they issued the CFO sticker. Right of abode status is different to visa status but not sure whether they treat as same as British passport. If its possible I would get the British passport as avoids the issue entirely and cheaper but longer.
Yes the British passport is the safer option I wouldn’t like to try and leave the Philippines with a child on a Philippines passport and a British passport holder regardless of what papers I had. The issue the op has is how to get the stamp!
@Richann8391 apologies I missed a bit that @Br28016 raises no she doesn’t attend but needs a stamp that mother needs to do but can be done on line.
Perhaps, better I ask here: Just wondering about my children born here in RP, 9 and 11 with UK and Filipino passports... Do they need to register, get a sticker, attend a seminar or anything ? Wife will have to get stickered once she get's the VISA - very muddled advice online....
Your Phils-born dual national children do not need CFO/stickers,etc. Simply book flights using their British passports, but present both passports at the airport on departing the Phils. I did this for my dual national (then) 7 year-old son, when we went for a holiday in the UK last April. (Just he and I).
Thank you, just noticed the Filipino passports have expired Will have to renew the wife's, do you think it'll be ok to forget the kids Filipino passports altogether?
To be honest seeing as they are dual nationals the British passports will be fine, just get the wife's sorted asap I know you are on a deadline, what with TB, English language and VFS appointments needing to be booked.
DO take the kids' expired Filipino passports with you though, plus their birth certs, when exiting the Phils, to show to Immigration, if asked for.
If you are going to get them renewed in future then cheaper and quicker to do in Phillipines. Avoids a trip to embassey in london which as everyone knows is not a fun task. Will need proof of citizenship leaving to avoid overstay situation if only british passports although as suggested above the old passports and birth certificates will hopefully sort it.
