Many airlines charge extra for check-in baggage, is this any different than Ryanair?

True and I guess it's my own lack of experience doing the journey over 2 carriers! Doh

I have to factor in about 70 to 100 quid each time for parking or taxis, next trip it will be parking as the day I get back is a very expensive day for taxis.

Was much better when I lived in Scotland as it only cost a few quid to get to the airport and a few quid back as I lived 10 miles from Glasgow airport and the journey was a lovely scenic journey at any time of day or night.

Apparently I have to arrange extra baggage at the airport, if I want it, because of the 2 separate carriers.

Surprised to hear that, you mean extra check in baggage above the 23kg ticket allowance?

Yeah anything more than the 23kg.

This is what it says in 'MyTrip' in the baggage section.

I have no status with them anymore, zero miles, as I gave away the last 160 or so a couple of years ago :)

    Who does MAN-CRK direct?

Emirates appear to do so although direct still means through Dubai.

I haven’t used a taxi for at least 10 years when getting to the airport. They simply cannot match MAN’s own airport parking (which I prefer rather than 3rd party parking).

Yeah looks like it, I hadn't realised that but it looks like it is on the same 777, similar to KLM stopping off at Taiwan.

Yea won’t do that route again, pain in the bum in comparison to Cathay. I cocked up buying that flight :)

Sad to hear KLM is phasing out the 737.
    Slightly off topic.

When are they doing that and what are they replacing it with?

I preferred the direct KLM route, but you got an extra dinner on the Taiwan leg so I quite enjoyed that especially the last couple of times I flew business on my miles :D

I found Emirate a pain the bun this last trip, literally :D seats were bleedin awful no thickness to the cushion at all on the way out.

Sorry, it's the 747's that are being retired by KLM.
I was reading a recent article about it in the KLM inflight magazine.
