We all seem to get annoyed at Indian call centres and their inability to understand the most basic technical problem, but kudos to BT, they've sent out a replacement HomeHub as the current one is playing silly buggers, without too much fuss. Over the last few days, more and more websites are timing out. Most are resolving, but not loading. Right now, I can only get no more than 10 websites, its a bit like going into MacD's and only seeing 10 items on the menu, lol. Luckily the websites that do work are the ones I use the most, HSBC, Gmail, Amazon, but its times like these you realise how much we all rely on the web for a lot of day to day stuff. Imagine the web collapsing - it would be absolute chaos.

Interesting, when that happens it's usually a DNS issue, but as you say they are resolving but what are the line speeds up and down at that point Rob?

I actually rather enjoyed being away for a month and hardly using the internet at all :) main reason was it was so slow and a lot of sites timed out :)

Interestingly BT account services cannot be directly accessed from the Phils, you have to establish a VPN to the UK first then the site works, I was trying to check and PAY my bill while I was away but proved to be very hard indeed.

I was thinking that too, but BT tech said there were no issues with DNS. The HomeHub is locked to BT DNS, so this cannot be changed to Google's Public DNS which I was going to try first. I sold my spare Netgear Modem/Router a few months ago as the current HomeHub has been rock solid reliable for over 14 months. My mate is a mobile computer tech said the BT Home Hub 3.0 A series are well known for failing at some point, of which mine is one of, so maybe its my turn! Line speeds are brilliant for an 8mb ADSL (we live in middle of nowhere, only BT ADSL available), I've got a constantly good connection, even now with all these timeout errors on websites, I can still get Speedtest - 6.92Mbps down, 0.36Mbps up & 35ms Ping. Most days I get up to 7.8Mbps.
