I was lucky to have worked in a radio station in Malta back in the 90's and I was exposed to a lot of Italian music. My favourite has to be Claudio Baglioni's Questo Piccolo Grande Amore Also Marco Masini La Liberta
She was English. Actually, the girl in the video is not the one that sang on the recording (Hilary Lester) who didn't want to appear on it. Can't imagine why... Renato was born in Italy but spent most of his life in the West Midlands. He passed away in 2009 aged 69.
Renato Pagliari was his name. I met him personally many years ago while us both working on the QE II, obviously in different capacities. I was his Wine Steward or commonly knows as Sommelier. He was born and lived not far from where one of my uncles ran the largest farm Estate in the province of Viterbo for some Italian Prince from Rome, if I remember correctly it was about 4k hectares +. Ardent Lazio supporter while I supported Roma.... And chat of the places and people of the area we knew, and funny enough one of his relatives used to work for the Estate. We became friends on board and often he requested me personally to be at his table, so we could have a decent chat in Italian, as there was very little in a way of conversation with elderly, obese americans. On learning of my impending wedding anniversary and how much my then wife liked the song "Save your love" he allowed me to take my video camera in the theatre and record it while he sang for the passengers. We met once again in London by chance at the Ideal Home Exhibition. I was terribly sad on learning of his passing.
