    Hi guys,

Recently got married and we are preparing for our spouse visa application, hopefully we will submit our documents on the first week of February. My husband went to NatWest today and spent 2 hours trying to get 6 months bank statement from them. They said they can't print the actual statements in the bank as they don't have a printer for that (which sounds weird), so they gave my husband his transaction history details from August 2 up until January 6 (they said they can only go as far as Aug) and stamped each page.

I might sound very stupid but I want to be safe than sorry :), so is August to January considered 6 months? just worried that the ECO will count 6 months from July (like July to August is one month and so on). I'm embarrass with this question but I'm really paranoid over small details on everything. Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Bigmac.

They wont give us bank statements in the bank, just the transaction history :(

we will submit our online application on January 16,and I was told that the financial documents should not be earlier than 28 days from the time we applied online. I should have told you on the first post that our documents are pretty much complete now, we're just waiting for the NSO copy of our marriage certificate, which we're hoping to get last week of January or first week of February.

the whole process is making me feverish every day, lol

    Do you have online banking?

With Nationwide I can print any statement from their online banking website, from any month. I did that and got them to stamp and sign each of them.

August to January, inclusive, is 6 months.

If I was with Nat West and they refused to stamp them I would make an appointment with the branch manage and say that I want to open a new account and put £100000 in and by the way, please can you sign and stamp these 6 statement for me. I am sure he would do it then.

I bank with NatWest and needed statements from July to December. I can do this online but had run out of ink in my printer so I went to my local branch and they printed them for me. It took about 5 minutes. I did this last week.

So either DIY (if you have a printer and use online banking) or go back to the branch and find a more competent teller.

Make sure you read 3.3.4 of the financial requirements document below before submitting bank statements, it tells you what is acceptable to submit and what isn't, for example, online bank statements require a letter from the issuing bank proving their authenticity and need to be stamped by the bank on every page. Take care with this.

I'd say just wait a bit and order some proper statements just be be safe. Have everything else ready to go, then apply as soon as you get them.

I agree with Maharg, better to submit original bank statements, then you don't have to mess about getting them stamped and authenticated.

Better safe than sorry, that goes for every part of the visa submission :)

If you havent kept 6 months of originals then some banks do not re issue originals. At that point, like me, your only choice is a copy, which will need authenticating. Thats what happened in our case.

    Sounds daft. But true.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the replies, we just ordered statements from July up until January, so I'll send that together with the letter and the papers the bank gave my husband to authenticate his account with them.

    Cheers!

And yeah, the bank only gave him transaction history details printed on a regular A4 paper and stamped it (they said they can't print actual bank statements in the bank), in addition to that, the manager wrote a letter authenticating his account. When we ordered statements online, we told the lady we spoke to that we need monthly statements, she said transaction details is the same and they assured us that it is acceptable for visa application, we said it will be safer if she sends us monthly statements, she said ok but still got the transaction history.
