Thanks and yours too! When did yours leave? What is expected transit time? Ours gets shipped to Southampton then into container by the 8th October, vessel leaves the 13th gives it about 10 weeks to arrive week before Christmas.
Good luck. I could never get any response from Forex, when trying to SPEND MONEY with them. Gave up in the end.
Our last one arrived last month. Took 11 weeks and was in perfect condition when it arrived. We Haven’t sent any others yet but probably will next month so will arrive January, hopefully service will be just as good.
Apologies if it's a poor question , but I haven't sent a Balikbayan box yet . Do all boxes go by sea , or is it size and cost dependant ? I had thought before that they were usually sent by airfreight. Thanks in advance for any info .
Size, cost and weight dependent you could send i by air but costly Our box has cost £110 by sea very heavy and about 1.5 metres square
Asawa has used forex several times and never had a problem. The hardest part is usually getting the boxes in the first place but we have a filipino shop in town so its really easy for him to drop them off with being local now. Balikbayan boxes traditionally go via sea in a dedicated container. There are no weight restrictions.
i was given a perfectly good 42" flat tv earlier this year. my wife commented only yesterday she would like to send it over in her next box !
It's NTSC here in the Phils, but PAL in the UK. It maybe a multi-system TV though... plus converters are available. Anything (like my Xboxes) connected by HDMI are not affected. I also bought a multisystem DVD player (Panasonic) in the UK, and brought it here so I could play my UK DVDs on it, through to the local TV set.
my wife bought a smaller tv a few years back and sent it over--it worked ok. not watched corrie for many years--used to be addicted to it. whats love island ? a sort of morning after " naked attraction" replay ?
Standard sizes of Balikbayan Boxes are Medium: 18 x 16 x 18 inches. Large: 18 x 18 x 24 inches. Extra large: 24 x 18 x 24 inches. I doubt that a 42" tv will fit, even in the extra large size. You can make a separate crate for it, in fact most shippers offer a special service for flat screen TV's, but the cost would make it not really worth it. Yes there is a different system here for analogue signals, but I doubt very much that you would be worried by that. Almost certainly you'll be receiving either via cable or satellite, in which case the set top box will output a HDMI signal will connect directly to the TV.
My Mrs will make it fit..even if she has to fold the TV in half. When she is finished, the box will be completely sealed in heavy duty sticky tape and weigh over a ton..
Some shippers use larger boxes. My last ones were 34" x 26" x 24" . Still too small for a 42" TV though. I was thinking of shipping a TV, but I think around 37" screen was going to be the biggest that would go , with sensible space for packaging. https://pootenforwardinginternational.com/prices/ TVs are not dear in the Phils. I did put in a computer monitor, as it took up so little space.
er indoors insists a 42" will go in the pooten cargo big box. she sent one in 2011. it goes in diagonally but without its packaging. then fill all the space left with soft stuff.
