The wife has hinted the past days about an erection, namely the Christmas tree. Why the fascination of putting a Christmas tree up so early? This seems indicative of PI as I recall the Mall having trees up in September! I understand the excitement and all but surely by the time December gets here thats wained somewhat, I'd of thought? Anyone else experienced this?

From looking at my wife's Facebook, this seems to be the case. But yes, far far too early. I have managed to train my wife, though, not to conform with Filipino convention. :D

I have explained that for us Brits the decorations, including the tree, go up on Christmas Eve and come down on Twelth Night ("Three Kings") or a year's bad luck will ensue.

But seriously I never heard of anyone putting Christmas decorations up before All Souls Day.

Generally the tree etc goes up about 10 before chrimbo (I like chimbo in the uk, going to be strange in the phils buying a tree in 30C heat!) in my house and comes down 12 nights after xmas.

Hmm.. I think you all know how it is in the Philippines. In my parent's home, we already have the tree and all the decorations after November 1st. This is now moved to after November 20 which is my mom's mother's death anniversary.

We have a decorator that comes over and makes our tree and living area all pretty :)

I suggest to give in to the wife, it's just Christmas and it will surely brighten her day and make her smile if you let her!

Thanks for the input. Yep I always give in! I just thought she'd be bored of it by the time Christmas gets here.

Ha ha. Yeah. Me and t'wife were discussing this the other day.

She wanted to know why shops don't play Christmas songs in the UK. I tried to explain that it was because it is October, but that was just met with confusion because Christmas starts in September.

I tried to explain that it doesn't.

    Then I gave up.
