I do confess that I just stalked the other side to check wether the chance encounter I had last wednesday evening was what I thought it was or not....:erm:

    And still none the wiser....:erm:

Due to a hotel overbooking cock-up I got rerouted to an allegedly higher class establisment for the first two nights of my four days stay in scotland for the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh.

As I got out of the car I greeted a couple of "Jocks" colleagues of mine, which were polluting their lungs with nicotine by the front door, and as I was exchanging pleasantries I couldn't help notice an obvious Filipina looking lady standing next to an older bloke that by the looks of him must have been chewing on a couple of wasps.
The inchyra Grange Hotel, id one of those 4* McDonald Hotels that looks great, promises a lot, charges accordingly and, in my opinion and of several other people, delivers sod all. The 2 rashers of bacon, must have beed sliced with an industrial laser, so thin they were, The "Prize" sausage was tasteless and not very well cooked, and the eggs must have been laid by bantam hens or some other overgrown sparrow.
Cold showers, mean and tasteless breakfast, ridiculously expensive WI-FI, dodgy bedlamps and a decor which was top of the range sometime in the early 80es, and I am not meantioning the strange odour in the corridor...:erm:
On the whole I don't think I have found many good points about the place, apart from the 32" flat screen Tv in the room...:erm:

Going back to the pensioner looking person and the Pinay wife seen outside the bar door, I thought very hard about them, and they did look something familiar to the eye, but couldn't put a name to them or a meeting place.
As I was checking out to go to the original 3* hotel with free WI-FI, bigger and better breakfast, cleaner room, better lighting, cheaper bar food and drinks suddenly hit me...

It could well have been Arthur and Myrna, but still doubtful... What would they be doing so far from home..?? Nah........
So, I just popped over to check on the gallery, to check the pictures.

    And you know what..?

    still none the wiser..:erm:.

Ha.. I guess I too will give that hotel a miss if I am ever there.

There have been a couple of times in Chinatown when I have been in the Woo Sang supermarket, when a western man and his Filipina wife have been pottering about for supplies and I have to wonder if I know them online:erm:

Just had a not terribly impressive hotel experience in Liverpool myself last night, brand new hotel not more than 3 years old, lousy rooms, horrible design, works night out hence staying at a hotel as just about impossible to get home after 11pm.

There's a lot of pretty awful hotels up north, I've stayed in some quite depressing ones in Edinburgh too although I dare say there are a lot of good ones.

Something in the UK just does not get the idea of 'service' not everywhere but in far too many places.

Regards Arthur and Myrna, well Perth (is it?) is not that far away, I'm just back from further north than that went up to my sisters last weekend, first time I've been home in over three years, never quite realised just how much I miss Scotland, it was great being amongst the mountains again.
