What is the accredited clinic for DNA test for this?. Can we provide other alternative evidences like the father was here in the Philippines by the time of conception and with an ultrasound result?. How i wish getting british passport for the baby is not necessary..

Yeah the old passport, the single best proof we have in writing that my daughter is British, yes she has the consular birth registration but the DNA evidence is now more than 5 years old and UP (where we got it done) will no longer have records and of course my daughter looks only vaguely like her baby photos now.

So I have to send the original and only absolute proof that the UK government accepts that my child is British off on some merry postal trail across the world to arrive at an understaffed over worked office in Liverpool where god knows what could happen to it, so easy for them to lose applications.

Regards our original application my daughters passport says that it was issued in Manila but of course I don't know where it was actually physically made, the original documents in the old days, including my current and previous passports, were handed over to the embassy in Manila who returned them within a week, important as I had to leave the country days after that, a much more preferable approach than blindly sending originals a quarter of the way round the planet in my opinion.

What we thinking now is to apply her a dependant visa, we will wait until may but if still no result then we will get her a visa coz we cant wait anylonger again

There were a few accredited hospitals, in theory, however we found that all the hospitals we approached were either going to take 6 weeks to get us the results or actually said no we don't provide this service, in the end we called the embassy again and said will you respect a test done by the forensic labs in UP Diliman, the answer was yes. At the time it was close to 1000 GBP to get the test done, they photographed us as the test was performed and did all kinds of stuff very professionally done and very nice people, I got three copies of the results one of which I have still not to this day opened.

I've been trying to find the contact details of the lab we used but not managed them so far, I'm sure I've not deleted those details, I should still have them.

I can't find my own records but this link points to the lab we used http://attylaserna.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/dna-tests-at-up-diliman-primer-and.html

edit: It's not just for disputed parentage by the way.

Can I ask you something Markam. Would it be possible once my wife gets the Registrar of Consular thing, that she could post the forms all to me, and I would take it to the Passport office in the U.K ( I live in Scotland, the office is in Glasgow) and get it done there? Maybe that would save time and a lot of money. I look forward to your reply.

No sorry Bobby that's not possible, child has to be physically in the UK for a UK passport application to be made locally, that is why I was speculating re a renewal of my daughters passport, that I would bring her here on holiday for a few months and apply while she was here. that would work.

I brought my daughters expiring passport to the UK about 16 months ago in order to renew it here myself only to find out that it was not allowed.

I am afraid to say that Oss is correct, the child does have to be in the UK to apply for a Passport there.

Just read an article about this topic. So it is not necessary to get an expensive DNStest if you can comply with the requirements they are asking and if the British father acknowledge the baby on baby's birth certificate then that can use as a proof..

We waited for more than 10months for the uk passport for my daugther
if u want to apply for a british passport for ur child better to start to collect all the documents so once u give birth then u are ready for the application

What other documents will I need to for it?. We will get baby's Philippine passport first right away when we already have baby's birth certificate from NSO.. We need that too right?. Thanks!. The Father will be here also during my delivery..

Correct however where the mother and father are not married yet it is far simpler to get a DNA test, also they can challenge your documents and demand a DNA test if they feel anything is odd about the application.

So if we get married before baby is out we won't beed this DNA test?. What if not married yet but the British father acknowledge the baby's paternity on the birth certificate?.

You can give it a try, they will create obstacles for you, hurdles you have to jump over, but if you are not married they will probably ask for a DNA test at some point.

Yes if you marry before the birth it will help, but marriage after conception may still raise alarm bells with them, thus prompting a DNA test requirement.
