    And from Salford too!!! :frust:

Two men and a woman have been arrested after a "suspected burglar" was stabbed whilst attempting to break into their property with a team of lads with him - all wearing balaclavas! (Or at least hooded up)

Now, I like to think it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. So, if it were me and a bunch of men were kicking my door in and they had balaclavas on... Reasonable defence is simply anything that ensures my suvival and the safety of any loved ones in the building. In other words, facing a gang of men I would try and use anything to hand as a weapon and if that happened to be a kitchen knife, then so be it.

And can anyone seriously doubt that as reasonable?

    :erm:

    Oh, full story here...

Stabbed Salford burglar John Bennell was on police bail

This story will surely run, especially as in coincided with Camerons statements about protecting home and family.

A burglar stabbed to death after an attempted break-in at a house in Salford, was on police bail for another suspected burglary, it has emerged.

John Leonard Bennell, 27, from Hyde, had been arrested by police in Tamworth, Staffs, earlier this month.

Householder Peter Flanagan, 57, who was arrested on suspicion of Mr Bennell's attempted murder remains in custody.

Mr Flanagan's 27-year-old son and his son's 21-year-old girlfriend have been released without charge.

Four masked men attempted to get into a house in Ethel Avenue before midnight on Wednesday.

Mr Bennell is believed to have been carried away by the other intruders as they fled, before being left in a road.

Police said Mr Bennell was found on Hospital Road in Pendlebury and died a short time later.

The three people with him at the time of the incident have yet to be traced, police said.

Ch Supt Kevin Mulligan, of Greater Manchester Police, has urged anyone who knows of their whereabouts, to contact detectives.

Look, you know what newspaper reports can be like, but I read today that the guy who has been arrested and his family and typical mr average, very good community spirited people who have lived quietly in the area for many years without any hint of trouble.

This kind of thing really winds me up I'm afraid.

Salford burglar death: Man held over break-in

Latest update on this story, maybe more arrests will be made soon:-

A man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an attempted break-in in Salford, in which a burglar was stabbed to death.

John Bennell, 27, of Hyde, was knifed in the chest, at a house in Ethel Avenue, Pendlebury, last Wednesday.

A 23-year-old man, also from Hyde, handed himself in at Ashton-under-Lyne police station at about 1900 BST, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is due to be questioned shortly, a spokesman added.

Householder Peter Flanagan, 59, was arrested on suspicion of Mr Bennell's murder. He has been bailed until 25 July.

Mr Flanagan's 27-year-old son Neil and his son's 21-year-old girlfriend were also arrested but later released without charge.

    Victim 'on bail'

Greater Manchester Police were alerted to a break-in at the terraced house just before midnight on Wednesday.

They then received reports of a man with stab wounds being carried along a street, by a gang of men, nearby.

Four masked men had attempted to get into the house before Mr Bennell - who was on police bail over another burglary - was stabbed.

It is believed he was carried away from the scene by the other intruders, before being dumped in nearby Hospital Road.

He was found by police and taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A 30-year-old man from Tameside, who was questioned on suspicion of burglary, was released without charge on Saturday.

A police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact the force or Crimestoppers anonymously.

A career criminal gets killed by the householder he was intending to burgle or worse.....

    I won't shed any tears.

I am only sorry for the house owner getting arrested and probably charged with something or the other.
When crims go out to cause problems, they should regard their own death or injury as a professional risk, and not complain about it if someone
doesn't take the abuse lying down and lashes out in anger.
