My best friend is in gray skies right now...
Her two and a half years of relationship with her bf ended up two days ago. Her bf told her that he only stayed with her because he pity her. Because he felt that she needs him and that she will be sad and broken hearted.

Now do you find that fair?
Is it okay to stay in a relationship when the only thing you feel for your partner is pity and not love? :(

No it is not right, but human relationships can be complex. And he might have been hoping to turn the relationship around and find love again.. but after two years decided he could not go on...

    Who knows.

Is your friends boyfriend also a Filipino or is he a westerner?

No it's not really fair in the end, but I can almost understand why it took so long.
I just wonder how close love and pity can be for some people. Seems it could be quite close.

If you feel pity, then surely you have loving nature?

I'm sure he knows how much he has broken her heart, and that in itself may just make the feelings of pity even stronger, and the feelings of a kind of love.

I don't know how he finished the relationship or what he said, but I think it must have been tough for him too, and I bet he feels really bad that he let this relationship continue so long. His weakness really.

Hope you'll be there for her yuna, it's going to a be a long hard road to move forwards.

well, some things are hard to explain and each have their reasons why they do such things.. and for the guy perhaps, he is being fair.. and for some, he may seem being unfair.. but whatever the reason is, i see it as an advantage/blessing to your friend.. at least she would be able to deal with it now, with you around, than deal with it 2 years later and by then, it would be harder for her to move on... just my opinion x

i agree with what everyone else said, not much I can say other than echo Kuya's sentiment about relationships being a complex thing. I was talking to one of my own friends tonight who recently got married and it's not going so well, because she ignored warning signs from before. Relationships are complex and often don't follow logic.

well he finished it quite abruptly and it caught my best friend's surprise... whats hurting her now is the thought that he has fallen out of love for her already and not tell her. He could've been honest and tell her the moment he felt that and not tell lies how how he loves her all those years. The sooner he told her the sooner they will move on but no, he prolong the feeling and pretended that he loves her. Now he treats her like he doesn't know her at all. Even tell her friends not to contact him anymore. :(

what I find unfair ms florge is him not telling her that he already falling out of love for her and still pretended that he still loves her. :(

It is not the first time I hear of an "Indian" doing this kind of thing, but then again, I haven't heard of it often enough to
make assumptions of it being a normal national trend.... But close....:erm:
I would not be in the least surprised if the man had different women on the go at the same time,
it certailny looks as LDR wasn't for him and is picking something closer to his patch....

I can understand your friend being sad, and upset about being dumped so abruptly and with such a lame excuse,
but I would tell her to rejoice in the fact that she is free of such arrogant and obnoxious worm.
He is not worthy of her love and dedication, so she should forget the whole episode and move on.

Hope she doesn't feel too bad about it anymore, and slowly she will be able to find real love and affection.
