Was there any reason you didn't go over to the Philippines for Christmas John?

This is my first Christmas in the UK for seven years, I've either been in Dubai or Manila, must say though neither are as good as being in the UK with the missus.

Hi Timmers yes there was we had it planned that I was flying out on the 18th December and staying in Manila till the monday and going to the embassy on the monday getting the paperwork done the LCM and affidaviat then lodging them at the civic hall in Jubys hometown on the tuesday morning we had arranged with a judge that he would marry us on the 2nd of Jan and we would complete the visa application I fly home wait then when successful and seminar done and tb screen done arrange flights and bring Juby home to the uk,
However I work as a haulage driver in europe at present it will change when Jubys here! and while in France a forklift driver on his forklift pulled me off the back of a trailer while trying to unload a fruit picking machine I broke a vertabry in my back and was advised not to fly as I had a body corset on I am going out early Jan to marry

What a bummer, sorry to hear that John, you never know what's waiting for you around the corner that's for sure. Make sure you look after that back, I slipped a disc in my back over ten years ago, six months off work and about two years to get my confidence back when lifting and the like.

I hope you're going to get some sort of compensation for your injury, at least that should take a little bit of the pain away.

Really bad news John, I feel for you mate.

Yes @Anne did a super guide which has helped many on their visa path here at British Filipino.

Try to keep your chin up, at least you're looking ahead and seeing things in a better light, wont be long now before you and Juby are together in the UK, its a feeling worth waiting for, you'll know what I mean when you are waiting in the arrivals hall at the airport and she appears through the door :)

Im going out to fly back with her but I know what you mean the golden moment we go through the departures in manila, the sharing of drinks on the journey home, the nodding off on the plane while holding hands, the wait in some departure lounge then passing through UKBA control then the golden moment of leaving the airport on english soil. Then arriving at the house front door. Gosh Im getting all dewy eyed

    Hi John,
I am a logistics supply chain distribution specialist technician (C&E) ahem, ahem :geek:  also (My trade was a radar tech originally - I often wonder why people got the word "technician" into everything, think it originated in USA).

Whatever happened to Europe-wide teamwork - how come you were close to the machine before it started to move?

Don't forget really warm clothes for Juby on arrival if it is still nippy in UK. It will feel like Antarctica to her.

Hi it was an odd shaped fruit picking machine designed to shake apples from trees that go on to make cider,it was loaded in the uk by 3 men with specialist handling equipment when I got it to the french agent it was just him and a basic fork lift truck,I got on the back of the trailer to try and help him unload it and in the process he knocked me off the trailer floor to the ground the 7 days in the french hospital was fun haha
