20,000 PHP for half a Kilo of Tawas??? !!! LoL. Now you say that,it brings memories of me always refusing very clearly why I would NOT take Tawas home to the U.K via an airport.
This is Tawas: KAl(SO4)2·12H2O. Which looks like this: Packaged like this: And this: It is the Filipino word for "Alum" - chemically-hydrated aluminium potassium sulphate which is used as both a deodorant and whitening agent for underarms.
It's mostly the old Pinoy folks who uses it. Us young chaps use deodorant now. lol. The old Pinoys swear you can also use it for toothache, mouthburn, as analgesic, etc. Sort of cure-it-all.
It is the most effective anti sweating deodorant that I have ever come across.. The problem is it dries out my skin terrible and then stings like hell.. Mixed with some baby oil though solves this I have found.. Very cheap and very effective..
I don't know about that mate. I'm not a farmer. Probably not because it has aluminium. But my neighbour uses it as an alternative to toothpaste.
