Six men questioned over disappearance of British backpacker Amelia Bambridge
Police in Cambodia are questioning six men over the disappearance of British backpacker Amelia Bambridge. The 21-year-old, from Worthing in Sussex, was last seen on Wednesday night on the island of Koh Rong. She was filmed next to a campfire at a beach party which she is believed to have left early the following morning. Her handbag containing her phone, money and bank cards, was found on a nearby beach a short while later. Noun Bunthol, governor of Koh Rong, said no charges have been filed against the arrested men, who all work at restaurants, hotels and guesthouses on the island. He said police received a note from some Western visitors saying they had previously been seen acting badly towards foreign tourists, especially women.
A senior police official vowed that the search for Amelia would not end until her fate was established. ‘We have decided the search mission will not be ended until we find her alive, or her body if she has died,’ the police chief for Preah Sihanouk province, Maj. Gen. Chuon Narin, said. He added that the search has been expanded to cover not only Koh Rong island and surrounding waters, but also nearby islands and farther offshore in the Gulf of Thailand. Local fishermen and neighbouring provinces in southwestern Cambodia have been alerted to pass along any information, Chuon Narin said.
Although there was speculation Amelia may have drowned, her father, Phil Bambridge, fears she has been ‘taken’. He told Sky News: ‘I don’t think she’s had an accident. If she’d had an accident she would have been found by now.’ Amelia’s family said she set off on the dream trip she saved up for two years to afford on September 27, flying first to Vietnam. She had been staying at the Nest Beach Club hostel, and they were only alerted of her disappearance when she failed to check out, they added.

These cases are so tragic, and of course heart-breaking for the families, who naturally at this stage do not want to believe that she could be dead.
Only educating the young travellers even MORE about the real risks they face, as well as 'looking out' for one another, will help protect them.

I know I'd be worried sick if I had a daughter of that age wandering the world, but try stopping them, and of course it's been a popular 'year-out' pastime for many years.

    Horrific.
I pray that the youngster is somehow still OK.
Bless her and her poor parents at this time.

Internet mixed blessing . People with so little consideration or respect, the lowest common denominator of humanity, given a 'say'.
